A couple of questions about fuel-

Just bought my 750, and I'm noticing that my fuel light comes on at about 150-155 miles almost no matter how I drive. That seems like a pretty short range. Is this to be expected? Also, I've been running 93 octane in my bike, but is this really necessary? Will I notice a difference on 87?

    Thanks!

I don't know when the fuel light is supposed to come on. Most are so so for accuracy on bikes. How much fuel do you put in it at that time? You tank should hold about 5.8 gal. Your putting in what, 4 gallons I'll bet? That leaves at least 1 1/2 gallons or about 60 miles for a total of 200-230 miles. Changing octane won't really buy you anything except more money. You don't need 93 octane. If your not getting about 40mpg then your either running rich or have a heavy throttle hand.

Your fuel tank should be a 5 gallon tank. The low fuel light is set to come on at approx. 1 gallon of fuel left in the tank. If you're filling up after the light comes on and you're putting in about 4 gallons, then the light is probably working fine and adjusted correctly. If that's the case then you're getting about 38 mpg. Which is just at if not a little above average. As far as the octane, you shouldn't need to run 93. However, your bike is 20 years old. My suggestion is to run 3 or more tanks of each octane through and see how she performs. Then, use which ever works the best. If she can run the same on 85 as she does on 93 then why pay the extra if you don't need to. I did this with my 93 and really didn't see any difference with the performance, so now I use 85. Good luck.
