Im looking at a bike for my wife sunday. but the starter needs to be replaced. it turns every time so its not the relay, its most likely the teeth on the starter gear.

can these teeth be replaced without replacing the whole starter?

what gear on the bike needs to be replaced if that is the problem not the starter? And how can i check before purchasing the bike?

    thanks

It is most likely the starter clutch, they can fail from time to time for various reasons but is a simple fix. There are many threads aboot this problem , a quick search should turn up a few of them . Good luck.
