If the rectifier/regulater blows(I've heard they're weak)does it ruin the CDI unit?Cheers.A tip,it was always a favourite trick in the uk to fit a 250 superdream r/r,on anything, they're tougher apparently, and very cheap.

I am not sure...did your rectifier just die?

How do you know your CDI unit(s) are dead.

Have you replace the WRECKTIFIER with a know working one?

The Superdream rectifier may actually be the same thing,....as well as rectifiers from KAWI and SUZUKI...the difference will be the wiring...

I am positive my RR on my Elite scooter is identical to the one on my VFR...

    Anyhow...more info required please....

    Thanks

I have seen many gen 2 CDI's fail (had one just this year) and when failed on 86's they will drop two cylinders in every bike I have seen but will still run, barely. The CDI is is similar to the gen 1 design but they stuffed it all in one box instead of having two seperate box's. The only time I have seen one failed completely it was due to crash damage.

    .............................................

Yes, a bad R/R could send excess unregulated voltage to CDI, causing damage.

Well, its an old bike thats been standing for a long while,it was running about a year ago,the bloke who had it said the lights were going brighter when he revved it at night,I rewired it (I know..) and it doesn't run at all now,I think the plan is to go through the wiring again, fit the 250N Rekky regulator, and try it,cheers, needed someone to bounce off as much as anything, thanks!!(Might have to buy another cdi, trouble is I can only afford second hand ones so I don't know if they're any good when you buy em.BRING BACK POINTS!!!Cheers..
