Hi I'm new to this site. I recently bought the 85 VF700F in the pic. I would like to bring it up to a more modern look.
I am looking to fore some projector beams to replace the square OEM headlamp. As well as change out the slip on exhausts. I can't seem to find anything. Any and all help as well as ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, I fear that you are on your own with the headlight thing. Aftermarket exhaust is discontinued, your best bet is to try and find a good used set or get lucky and find someone with a NOS set.

Good luck and let us know what you find out!

Laser still lists the systems and cans and I've heard here somewhere that the cans from a superhawk will fit and sound pretty nice. The headlight thing as stated earlier will be much harder. I would try looking for something you can mod in if thats the look your going for.

    Hey thanks guys!
I was thinking of going for a streetfighter look for the bike. Please let me know what you think of this...

I don't know if I'm into the streetfighter look on the old VF's. I don't their frames and overall dimensions suit it. To each their own, if you like it then go for it!

I would hit up a member on this board, Viff, for HID. He hooked me up with an awesome HID kit for my 87 VFR!

PLz let us know what you end up going with. I have the same bike (85 vf700f) and was thinking the same thing about the looks of the bike. The back end looks really good, but the front headlight is kinda..old school.

I have my motorcycle parked in my living room, and will be tearing some stuff down shortly :) I plan to paint the bike this winter. Still debating on keeping stock, or coming up with something new.

If you want to do a streetfighter, I'd go with a beat up newer bike. The VF is old school, and your looks like it's in good shape. Unless its trashed, I'd sell it and get something else.

Yea, the bike is in really good condition for its age. I purchased it earlier this year with 32000 on it. I'd like to make it "mine". The lower fairing on the engine came with the bike, I like it, but it doesn't quite match. I'd really like to put a dual headlight or a projector beam assembly in there and some new paint.

Have not seen any model VFR that looked good as a fighter. Some have tried...
But, it's your bike; do what you want.

You're right about it being "old school". But, what's wrong with that? Back in the 80's, anyone who saw the headlight of an Interceptor in their mirror, knew in a few seconds they would be looking at it's taillight, and there was nothing they could do about it. If you didn't have an Interceptor, you wanted one. I guess it's a little like a 57 Chevy, or a 65 Mustang, not much you can do to it to make it look better. If I wanted a streetfighter, I'd look for an old CBR or GSXR.

Buy an SV650. You can mod it all day and it will always look good. Street fighting on a VFR is funky because of how the instrument cluster mounts and integrates with the fairing. Take the front fairing off and you'll see what I mean. I agree with the old guy. I had a picture of the Interceptor on my wall when I was 13-14 years old. Everybody wanted one. I dogged a GSXR this afternoon. Cause I could. 1985 bike. Heh heh heh!
You could fill in the headlight hole and then start from scratch. Once you have a solid base to work from you can put whatever light you want. But remember: Old school is cool. Old school invented this new shit! Who's yer Daddy?
