85 VF500F Upgrade

Alright, my 85 has a stock 110 rear tire, and I want to upgrade to alittle bigger. Whats the best size for a nice little upgrade? 130? 140?

What tires fit on the stock rim?

Stock sizes brother! "Upgrading" the tire, in most cases, adversely affects the handling characteristics of the bike (which are pretty awesome to begin with).

Also, what is it with all the "what tire fits my old ass bike" threads recently?

Yea ive heard that from a few people on here. My bigger thought is not based around handling, but rather stability. Highway driving and tight turning, would a bigger tire help with stability? or is it just as stable with a 110?

 

In my experience wider tires are less stable because the profile is being distorted to fit the narrower rim.

yea. i guess the only sensible thing is to get a wider rim somehow if im putting a bigger tire. or im just going to get a 130, not a huge upgrade.
