Hey all. I'm new to the forum, and into road bikes in general. I've ridden duals sports on mostly dirt over the last 10 years. Lately I've been into my mitsu starions, but I'm starting to get back into bikes as they take up a lot less room :)

Anyhow, I'm aware of the oiling problems the early vrf bikes had, and I was curious about getting the cams reground. I have a good cam regrinder shop locally thats pretty famous locally, at least for cars that is.

Anyone ever had their cams reground for worn out journals etc...? I'm just curious as I may have just found a dirt cheap vrf750 and im gonna assume it is gonna need a lot of work including cam issues.

I fell in love with these bikes about a year ago after I entertained the thought of road riding. I absolutely love the styling. I'm somewhat of a 80s guy, and no i dont have a mullet  I currently rock 2 mitsubishi starions, one with a 1jzgte running a haltech e11v2, and the other a super clean car with a few go fast mods. I also own and run the northwest starion conquest club website www.nwstarquest.com. I grew up riding a ct110 then a tw200 and eventually moved onto a dr250, nothing real spectactular, but I they were all fun bikes. I'm currently working on a japanese style custom for one of my tw200 bikes, which is also in the middle of a restore, from years of storage and gas tank death. Anyhow, nice to meet you all.

The cams just have a hard ground surface. Underneath is softer metal. A cam grinder would have to add material and then take it off to match your grind.

If your cams look fine, I would invest in a filter adapter oil mod.
