I have a '84 VF750F. I've had a set of 4 into 1 headers on it for years (“Hole Shot” brand out of Canada) . I had a "dial-a-jet" external jetting kit on it since I installed the pipes. I recently pulled the external jet kit (long story) so now I need to re-jet the carbs. I’m not sure what size to go to, any suggestions? The stock sizes are Front: #112, Rear: #110 , or that’s what the Honda Shop manual says anyway, I haven’t pulled the carbs yet and I haven’t had them off the bike in at least 15 years so I don’t remember if those are actually the sizes. I could just experiment but I’m sure you are all aware of the major pain in the ass it is to get the carbs off and on so I’d like to do it once!! If anyone out there has good info please let me know. THX DAK
It's a crap shoot for sure. Stock jetting just may be fine. you may just need to raise the needs. You need to find very small washers that will just fit around the needel and under the plastic screw cup that holds them in place. Ones I found at the time was local hardware store. They are about .020" thick, older needles with grooves, they are about .040" apart. So two washers one=one groove. I think the most you can get under the cup is three. You really don't want to go that far without rejetting. You may want to replace the float bowl screws with allen head screws. I think then you can remove the bowls while the carbs on still on. Easier jet changes. You can drill out your jets if needed. I have a jet (hole) area chart if you need info to figure percentages.
