I really like the rear wheel on the 7th gen. Can it be mounted on a 5th gen, or would it take a team of japanese engineers? And why did they go with 5 lug instead of four?

I like it too. I'm guessing the extra lug has to do with the added power and torque and the required resistance to sheer forces at the hub. ...but I'm just spit-balling, I have no idea. :)

The forces of torque, when calculated with the weight of the bike, multiplied by the adhesion level of the tire, taking into account the surface adhesion, divided by the number of lugs, would apply such force to 4 lugs, forcing exotic materials be used, given the physics applied, they would be cost prohibitive.

Such can be figured out by the formula: # x ft. lbs. x tire adhesion (to the power of surface adhesion) / 4 = $$$$$$$$

While obviously, # x ft. lbs. x tire adhesion (to the power of surface adhesion) / 5 = $$$$

This is due to the gyroscopic affect using linear algebra, which when compounded by the affects of quantum mechanics, shows that the higher number of lugs has an order of magnitude reduction in the forces applied.

Or, I could be full of bull feces...

not full of it any more.....its all over your post... why are there more lug nuts on a 3/4 ton pick up than a 1/2 ton?

lol, why does my 4 cyl camry have 5 lugs and some 6 cyl have 4? there's really not that much of a difference unless they use real shitty material, maybe they used 5 lug so certain rims will fit or better yet NOT fit on the 7 gen, again, as I posted on another thread, I don't think the 7th gen should even be called a vfr, it should carry it's own name...

My point exactly. Thank you. I did not think I needed to go into all that to make my point. Maybe it was to be different, dont know. Not that much difference in weight or power. I like things being universal like chevy v-8 engines, easier to find parts for. Some of them high power tuner cars run only on four lug with no issues, granted they have two drive wheels. And I also agree, maybe a better name for the new bike would be in order. Seems to be the concensus. I still want that rear wheel, five lugs and all.

Anyways, to mount a 7th gen rear on any other would be easier to weld and redrill the carrier than mod the wheel, IF you could get anyone to do so.
