derstuka - I personally take offense to your comment. I was only pointing out the fact that the thread's originator asked for feedback from 6th Gen owners. Should we not respect that request? As a courtesy, I believe in not hijacking a thread. Did I do something to offend you by bringing that to people's attention. If so, then I apologize, but I don't see how in any way that I stepped out of line here ....................

    Stewart,

No apologies sir. I enjoy your commentary and value your input, however, my point was that this is a "loose" forum, and you can pretty much notice each day that threads tend to wander a bit. Being not so strict is one thing that makes this such a great forum. I have started many a thread about a headlight, chain, or what-have-you, and it might end up talking about the grammy awards and/or what someone wants have for dinner tonight. It doesn't upset me. Like I said, almost all threads do not adhere to what the original owner asked. Just stroll down past what you don't want to read, and viola! There you go. For the most part, threads do stay on course, just a little deviation now and again. I guess threads wandering might aggravate some, but for lots of us, it is just the way that VFRworld (and many other forums) operate. Human nature I guess. Look at how I whored up your nice and clean 6th gen militia thread just because jammer and norcal were teasing me.

I was just stating that it should be irrelevant if someone doesn't own a 6th gen. If they have the experience from riding one, or knowledge of one, then speak up. What if the person that was the most knowledgeable was a previous owner, or a mechanic that has worked on dozen's of them...but he does not own one at the current moment? Should he not be allowed to speak because he does not "own" one?

I am not trying to pick a fight, just the opposite really, trying to ease things a bit so all can speak, regardless if they OWN one, or just have experience, or even just want to shoot the sh*t! As you know, there is a lot of knowledge on this "welcome to all newcomers" forum from everybody. If admin ran a tight ship here, we might as well merge with VFRD! I wouldnt' be around if that happened. hahaha

Oh, and feel free to whore up my threads....everybody else does! hahaha! Come on, sit back and crack open a cold one and laugh at this silly discussion!

Jason, I do not disagree with you. I do not mind if a thread wanders as long as it does not get too far off the point. I was just pointing out what the owner requested, it is in those cases that I think it should be respected. If it's not called out, then it should be fair game. And no, I was not looking for an apology.

Hey Superstuka, what colors do you prefer, and who F$%^&*@G cares if you whore it up, it's gettin' damn boring around here lately. You put enough rats in the same cage and eventually they start attacking each other, friggin' winter time........

I just "fixed" a couple of things I didn't much like about my 6th Gen - and the bike lost a few pounds in the process. i just ordered a pair of Leo Vince carbon EVOII exhaust cans and a PCIII. That ought to take care of the wussy exhaust note and the low speed throttle snatchiness (I hope that word won't get me banned!!!).

Next I think I might remove the centerstand, although I don't think that will make a noticeable improvement. That weight is down low and probably won't make any difference in bike feel. Has anyone removed the centerstand? If so, does it make any perceptible difference in acceleration or handling? I have never used the centerstand anyway, because i have a Pit Bull rear wheel stand. Educate me on the effect of removal, please.

Finally, I feel like we are moving toward a multi-generational group hug. That's a good thing. I have already suffered through the Suzuki SV 650 generation wars and never want to experience that again! So, stay cool and never, ever, EVER disrespect another guy's bike. If you must, just say, "That bike isn't for me!" and leave it at that. Any further elaboration will just Go South on us. That's my philosophy, anyway. I can understand why someone might buy any of the bikes manufactured today - except perhaps the Korean Hyosungs. But that's probably just a blind spot I have . . . .

I think you will be blown away when you find out how much the stock cans weigh - I couldn't believe it! I'm also waiting to get my Motad collector back from Jet-Hot, so I'm interested to see how much the stock collector and cat weigh. Should know late next week as I plan on spending next weekend gutting the rest of the emissions stuff and getting the collector installed.

As for the center stand - If you ever have a flat while on the road or want to adjust and lube your chain on a road trip, it's just somethin' I'd think about. I put my bike on the center stand almost exclusively, I just don't trust the sidestand - it seems to hold the bike up too vertical. I'd also love to get rid of the rear billboard/fender, but I'm going to need the support to mount my hard bags......my new vanity plate distracts me from the ugliness a little now..

If you get used to using the center stand, you'll love it. It makes maintance easier and with the bike on it, it takes up less space in the garage.

For me personally, the small amount of weight I would shave by losing the center stand wouldn't be worth sacrificing my peace of mind. I know alot of other folks don't share my opinion though and that's cool too. It really is what you think is ultimately best for you. It works too well for me to remove it.

I've grown to rely solely on the centerstand as it is more stable and I trust it. I wonder how much weight I can save by removing the side stand?

 Why didn't I think of that? I rarely use the side stand.
BTW, why does Harley call it a "Jiffy Stand"?

One of the things that always annoyed me with my SV is the lack of a centerstand, as most of my trips are for a few days and 700+ miles, so there is always at least one chain lube required. I am SOOO happy that the VFR has a centerstand! Now if I can just come up with a portable version of a grunge brush, kerosene and a ton of paper towels...

"Jiffy" might refer to getting something done quickly, as in, "I'll have it done if a jiffy". Now I'm hoping that Harley will add a centerstand some day, just so we can find out what they'll call it.

You guys might want to try a malt beverage (may I suggest the Schlitz Malt Liquor 22 oz. bottle) to read my posts vice that water pipe. It's legal and is likely what caused my humor to take a turn off the beaten path. The Bull Double-Deuce was a favorite during high school along with the Mickey's wide mouth keg bottles that the uninitiated tended to get cut trying to open... or spilled all over themselves.

Since I'm a 6th gen owner, I feel confident that this relates to the subject thread. Just trust me on that.
