    Howdy!

I installed the 55W HIDs from DDM Tuning. These things are awesome. According to the InterWebs the 55W HID bulb puts out 5000 lumens vs 1300 lumens from the original H7 Halogen bulb. I cannot verify the numbers but I can say the new system is MUCH better.

The HID bulb is a bit longer than the stock H7 bulb. As a result it interferes with the low beam shroud. I had to modify the base of the bulb by adding a spacer and removing most of the original material. The spacer was made from the old H7 bulb. I removed the wires, epoxy etc and ground the original bulb down until all I had was a mounting plate. (I've included a blurry before and after pic.) The spacer was bonded onto the HID bulb using high grade epoxy (3M 2216). Now that the HID bulb mounts less deep into the headlight bezel normal installation can proceed.

I intalled a pair of relays and connected the HIDs to the battery. This is so they draw the lowest amount of current. The ignitor boxes were hidden in the upper right fairing just above the ABS braking equipment.

There's approx 500 miles on the setup and they work great. I'm looking forward to using them in a month on the coast to coast tour.

I included a pic of the high and low beams on. Photos never do justice to the HID upgrade. But ya'll get the idea. They are BRIGHT!

I cannot recommend this upgrade enough. The bike is much more visible to oncoming traffic than it was before. When I'm traveling straight thru an intersection with a 2 way stop the cages at the stop sign see me much better. Weren't we having a dicussion recently about conspicuity? I stand out with these installed!

Thank you to DDM tuning for offering a quality product at a reasonable price. (They are NOT paying me to say that!) I'm just a satisfied customer.

Glad you are happy, DDM is a block from me :)
Their product is ok for the price. Cannot beat the lifetime warranty though. Enjoy
