I'm looking into upgrading the suspension (front and rear) on my '97, but I'm not clear on what my choices are. There's no part for the rear on the Ohlins or Elka websites, but I'm sure there is a part that fits. Also, what about the front? Springs and a gold valve kit? Complete front end replacement? What are my options?

Sorry if this is covered somewhere else, I looked around a bit and didn't see anything.

    OK!

For the front Race Tech Inc.

You can give them a call too and they'll be very helpful. Last time I spoke to them they told me they can tear down and rebuild my stock rear shock too. So there is an option for you.

Also, Penske makes a rear shock but you have to call. its a "made to order" item since tahts how they do their shocks.

Also Wilbers and Progressive still make rear shocks for the 4th gens.

    Happy shopping!

Racetech for the front: you can just buy replacement springs and Gold Valves. I am using F3 forks on mine and will use RT springs for them.

For the rear I am using a Erion CBR929 rear shock. I don't have $$$$ to throw at a rear shock and the spring rate is comparable to what i would use if i bought one. I had to do some modifications to make it work (another bonus for me since I love doing that stuff); total cost for the rear was less than $50. It's not as exotic as a Penske or Wilburs, but it works.
