Okay i have a 1994 vfr750, the current fairings for it look so off. let me put it this way, when i took the fairings off the bike to do some work to it the inside of one of the panels was black, and the inside of the other fairing was red. I have so many overlapping fairings and shit that just doesnt fit correctly.

now my question is where the fuck can i get a new fairing set that won't cost me an arm and a leg.

    {EDIT} I said 3rd gen, but i meant 4th gen, #OOPS.

Sometimes when a fairing part is repaired or repainted, it's painted black on the inside to hide the repair. The paint sheen is usually matte or flat black. Emphasis on usually but not always.

There are dozens of posts here on where to find fairing parts or sets. These vary in price from an arm to a leg and "damn" I got lucky.

Hmm?? you say 3rd gen, but have a 94. thats the first year of the 4th gen so which is it. They are not inter changeable. that said pictures would be great here as there are many variations to these depending on the what's what.

This generation thing is an invention by those who like to think that in the highly competitive world of vehicle sales the manufacturers would sell the same exact bike for 3-4 years.

The next question is who invented it? Probably some of the same folks who buttonhole generations of people into nice neat little groups. That really works too.

I've also heard the certain generations are vegetarians too. On subject, the fairings I had on the 4th where factory and black naturally with red over spray, one side had more over spray than the other. The trick to 4th gen fairings are the little tabs that take a little certain twist to get them to line up. I have a feeling most of these get broken off over time making it not a great fit. Now this has nothing to do with the Chinese.

All of great help to the OP who is likely organic, carbon based, perhaps even gluten free, immune to pests, pesticides, harleydoods and Chinese.

It is also well known that tab A fits in slot A and not in slot B.
