Just checked my milage for the 1st time since i bought my '99 VFR......35mpg? Now I don't buy bikes for the milage, but my carburated 2001 Kawa ZRX1200 averages 42mpg (with jet kit and full pipe), and my carburated 1970 Moto Guzzi 750 rarely gets less than 50mpg, and I've seen 55mpg. You would think a fuelie 800cc bike would do better than 35mpg wouldn't you? That being said, I have been flogging the bejesus out of it. Seems to settle in a comfy cruise mode at 90mph. I've seen 130 on the speedo a couple of times on this tank...................I wonder......................35mpg @ 90mph................maybe not so bad. Beats the 22mpg I average in my cage (2006 Acura TL). What do you more sane riders average? I guess I'll have to slow down a little and try again:biggrin:

I've never measured the engine performance on any of my VFR's in miles per gallon.

I've always felt that their real engine performance worth is measured in smiles per gallon.

Is the gearing stock? Tire sizes? Cleaned the FI lately?
I expect to get 35 mpg after the gear reduction on my 6th Gen.

Stock gearing, clean air filter, brand new (properly inflated every ride) tires, stock sizes. I think I'm floggin' this dog a little too much. Probably have 750 miles I've put on it, so it's still new to me (19,000 miles total). I don't know if it's just the fact that it's so different than my others, or that it's just so new to me, but so far this year, I'm rolling the VFR out of the garage a lot more than the other 2. I'm going to try & ride conservatively this tank..................................may be tough, my willpower is very weak!

Yes, 35 smiles per gallon are priceless. I have the same 99VFR. I am getting around 40-44 mpg depending on the speed during the trip. I am a slow rider rarely exceeding 85mph. At constant 90mph or over, I would not be surprised getting 35mph.

LOL... low fuel consumption and "flogging the bejesus out of..." are mutually exclusive.

I get 40 to 45 mpg from my '08. But I don't ride as fast as you do.

I'm getting 22 to 25 on my '02. I'm waiting for a new thermostat to put in in the coming week. I think it's stuck open, at leasat partially due to the radiator being hot at 140 degrees engine temp.

I'd love to see 35 right now.

I checked once and my MPG was 36, but the speedo is way off so I don't believe that was correct. My Hawk GT averaged about 40-45 MPG.
