I know we have a few members from Alberta area, including Calgary and Canmore and hope they are all safe. One of them I rode with on the Kootenay tour a couple years back. These areas can sometime suffer some relatively minor flooding but this is really something else. We were in the Banff and Lake Louise area beginning of June and waters were fast then, but not a drop in the bucket compared to this. Stay safe everyone out there and don't drive through running waters in your truck. You can easily be swept away.

That stuff is all happening on the other side of the Continental Divide from me. The Continental Divide runs along the BC/Alberta border about 10 km west of Lake Luise. The Kootenays and Kelowna are suffering a bit of low level flooding but so far here in the Fraser Valley, we are OK. I am below water level right now but that is not uncommon. We are protected by a dyke any time there is a high tide. The canal west of me is quite high but not even close to the top. Most of this area is lake bottom which was drained in the early 1900's

Last time we were on a flood alert here, (3 or 4 years ago I think) I pulled my bike out and took it and the fifth wheel to higher ground. Needed the fifth wheel dry in the event the dikes did over flow and I needed a place to live while repairing or replacing my house.

Strange. He in Canada we can't get flood insurance yet we can get earthquake insurance.

All of High River evacuated and 100,000 evacuated from Calgary. Faaaaack. Pretty much the whole down town of Calgary is under some water. And the Calgary Stampede is supposed to be in 2 weeks. Stampede grounds totally under water. Somehow I don't think that is going to take place this year. Calgary's Stampede is apparently one of if not the largest rodeo/stampede in North America.

Yes, Calgary Stampede is currently cancelled from all reports that I have heard. My best friend of 33 years is a resident of south Calgary and as yet, I have been unable to get a hold of him. I think they are far enough away from the flooded areas and I hope they are safe. There are many areas of Calgary that are without power and water.

My thoughts and prayers go out to any and all members of the board that may be residents of the Calgary area and the outlying areas. Hopefully you are safe, sound and uninjured. Possessions can always be replaced but people and loved ones can not. May all those who may be in danger, PLEASE stay safe.

Man that is really a hardship. Those folks have way to much of what we in Southern California don't have near enough of!
