Hi all, I'm hoping for some advice, I want to turn my high mount exhaust into an undertail exhaust on my 2001 vfr. has anyone else done this. I want to change the exhaust set up from 2 headers in the back down to 1 and 2headers in the front down to 1 then the 2 into the catalitic out to the can. Also can I get rid of the catalitic, if thats what it is, all togeather. I am concerned I will do damage to the engine with this mod, specifically burn up the exhaust valves on the engine. I'm not sure how much this bike depends on back pressure. If anyone has some advice it would be great. Thanks Bill
1) Simply forget about modifying the headers. If I understand correctly what you want to do, it will require some serious metal working skills. I don't think you are going to get the HP you want. All that will result is wasted money & you will still need new headers. 2) If you want headers, Motad is the only company that currently makes them. They are a direct bolt on. Several members of the board have them. 3) Wolf Exhaust made an undertail for 5th Gen's but I believe they are not in business anymore or discontinued the product. Running Wolf required modifying the rear suspension to make room. I remember seeing a yellow Y2K on the board with the Wolf but I can't remember who it is. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
re-mods If the metal fabrication is the only concern, then I'm cool with that, I've got a full shop and a great mig welder at my disposal. My real concern is any damage to the engine. Also how much hp loss do you predict? I checked out motad and saw they do make some nice stuff, but I'm sure its a small fortune. Thanks for your feedback Bill
