    Hey everyone,

Looking at a 2001 VFR 800I with 17k miles. Bike looks great on the outside, but I haven't gotten a chance to ride or even hear it running. I'd like to ask you guys what you know about the bike and what i should look for when running it.
Other info about the bike is that its "Stocked with Two Brothers Carbon Fiber after market exhaust" not sure if its full or slip on, and that its with its second owner who's had it for only a few thousand miles and hasn't done any extensive maintenance.

I'm getting pretty stoked about this bike, and I really appreciate any help or advice that you guys can offer me on checking this bike over.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I think mechanically it is a very sound ride. Look for obvious signs of abuse. If it hasn't been wrecked it's probably a good find. Unless the price is crazy. There is a 2000 or 01 where I live (CA) for 5xxx at a dealer so that should give you some idea. I usually look at kbb for a loan value/retail value and start from there when buying a bike.
