Condom mirrors? Sorry I'm a newbie, not familiar with the term. Do you have a pic? My 5th gen has a loose right mirror and I need to figure something out. Thanks for your time!

The OEM mirror stalks on 5th gen and previous models have a rubber cover. Over time the nickname "condom mirrors" became common.
Most guys just update with 2001 mirrors and the rubbers go in the trash.... "I did it"

In the lower left corner of the fische show the condom mirrors... 23 & 25 show the 2001 non condom mirrors.

Ah ha I see! Thank you for the education. I have seen the condom mirrors in a lot of stock 5th gen pics. My vfr is a 2001... i had thought mine had been upgraded to 6th gen but they don't look right for that either.

I kinda thought about getting a set of thosr aftermarket mirrors with running lights/blinkers. Yeah sure it would be neat but I kinda like how stock my viffer is. Are your condom mirrors still tight and stay adjusted? And would the 3rd gen bolt up on a 5th gen bike with all the same hole spacing?

    Cheers!

Oh - dunno about 3rd gen, but I do know 4th gen ... the 5th gen mirrors fit. - I had one and also added the 2001 replacements. I just think they look better and dont have a rubber thingy keep coming loose...

    Very nice looking bike!

Now I gotta ask if you don't mind me hijacking your thread a bit brother. How do you like your smoked double bubble? My bike is white and I think that windscreen is the best looking option for a 5th gen. Where's a good place to get one?

But how much higher does it raise the buffeting? Right now with stock bars and stock windscreen my helmet is just nicely above... and when I tuck down a little bit my helmet gets into the turbulence. I'd hate the double bubble to raise the buffeting right into my face.

What kinda shipping cost do you think your mirrors would be to the west coast? I'm in 98251. Thanks!

Thank you on the nice bike note. I am a bit OCD on keeping it looking great...
I like the double bubble quite a lot, its great for me at "any speed" --So a couple notes on my bike.. .I have the Corbin seat which I sit a bit lower than stock and my bars are 4th gen which also are a bit lower than stock..So the feel of the bike is that I am kinda down "in" the bike as opposed to the feeling of sitting on "top" of the bike... And me, I'm 5'10" , 175lbs.. very average everything....

General note on windscreens... its still different strokes for different folks. One guy will love the DB (me) and the next guy will hate it. And same in reverse, one guys setup he is crazy about, and if I try it, its no way for me. --- So in general windscreens are very much personal taste...

I did a little bit of searching

There are quite a few powersport part houses out there, suggest you could shop around if you want to go that way.
