Anyone tried this unit? <web linky>

I'm thinking about replacing the plastics since mine look pretty good from 30 feet out, but most of the tabs are toast, it's been repainted (Ducati Red, apparently) and there are numerous cracks that don't really show, but...

I also like the look of this all-in-one unit

but imagine it's a b*tch when oil change time rolls around...

Maybe if I cut it in half vertically so you could just pull one side....

I'll send a note when mine arrive after the first of the year. As stated in a few other posts, that lower is going to be a pain to mount, but it should really clean up the bike with fresh paint...

looks like you are going to have to do alot of cutting for the indicators brake light etc etc.
But they could be a nice look when finished.

I would imagine the quality is ok since the company has been around for a while and they have lots of experience making molds and replicating body parts. I also remember hearing about someone who bought one and split it so that the fairing could be removed in 2 pieces. If I remember correct he said it was held in place by a couple of custom fabricated bracket underneath. It may be worth looking into. It you don't have good skills I would recommend taking to a professional since it is very easy to mess up the mounting points and fittings.

    Regards,

I'm going to try and leave the lower intact, but am prepared to split it if needed. my concern at the current moment is the one piece rear and what do do about tail lights/signals. I've been considering doing a set of recessed LED flexible lights with a set of stock lenses permanently mounted over the top... Although I'm not sure how it will look, my two backup plans are a set of 4th gen tail lights, as well as remolding the rear to fit a 5th or 6th gen light... although that'll extend the time to get back on the road, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.

    Thanks
    Jeff

Those appear to be race fairings since there are no light holes.
