Thought I'd throw this out to see what others think. I like the 4th gen bikes, but when I first saw them the NACA duct on the side seemed like the ugliest thing I'd ever seen.

I'm an engineer and usually don't care all too much about cosmetics, but for some reason the duct rubbed me the wrong way (and yes I understand the subtle benefits of a NACA style duct, not that it has any real benefit in this application).

Lately the look has been growing on me but I'm still not sure. Anyone else with strong opinions on the 4th gen styling?

To Funny, did and still does in a certain light bug me every now and then, always wondered since Honda was sorta making a NR knock off with this model Why they didn't stay a lot truer as in head lights, brakes, and suspension, I can understand the engine thing that was a no brainier. But Sure would have like to have seen a NR750 with our motor and its style, but ya, it kinda grows on you. Besides I don't see it when I'm riding. only hear it.

Im going to see if I can get you two guys BANNED after those comments. However I would have that NR body on mine in a hot second. I would of course have to add the NACA duct!!

LOL Ya know, I've done the carbon fiber look to mine more than once, in fact still have a couple sets of decals, I like it when they are new. Hard to tell if it ain't real, but after a while the edges get lose and peel off, would have loved it if someone would make real carbon fiber ones, that be real trick. Found some that where made in Germany but they are inserts, not a full duct and for the price they should have been a full duct.

i like the naca duct! im thinking of adding a gen 4 to the fleet, so am also interested to hear of any other thoughts on this series.
ivve had gens 1 & 2, gen 5, and currently have gen 6 so this would fill the 'ride experience gap'. from what i understand so far this is the last of the carbed models. the bike ive seen has about 66,000k's on it.

The 4 gen is a great bike for a single rider. Two up with bags and things start getting heavy and slow. Also adding an undertail exhaust is VERY hard. Plastics are VERY expensive, Can not get nice after market foot pegs less then $180.00, Otherwise its killer looks and single rider speed is GREAT.

Thanks SloVFR, love your carbon insert in the NACA. looks very chic.

thanks for the feedback, would plan to use gen 4 as an occaisonal w/end ride and leave the heavy/ longhaul work to the gen 6 which is gagging for it. :bolt:

i note that your bikes panel has what looks like a VFR logo just visible at the bottom. is this standard for the gen 4? the bike im looking at doesnt have this on it...ergo replacement fairing? therfore potentially should inspect a little further for damage from a fall? (pic attached)

If the owner will allow it remove the fairing in question. All the fairings on the 4G are date stamped. It's a weird grid that has the months in numbers across the top and the year down the left side. On my 94 the fairings are all made end of 93 except the left upper, which is a midyear 96. I just replaced it with a 'new' left upper made early 98.

As for the NACA's, I sometimes think they look out of place, but not nearly as bad as the 'condom' mirrors...

I must say, I'm off the opposite opinion - luv it, luv it, luv it, it's what attracted me to the 4th gen.

I think the 4th gens have a very "unique" look.

If you look at all the other bikes at the time Honda really went out on a limb in design.

The design has grown on me over time.

I always liked it because it resembled the NR.

The VFR logo was stock on all 4 gens. Owner must have taken his off. I would look for damage anyways. They frame will have marks on it by the shifter and brake lever if ts been down before.

Don't get me wrong I love my bike, just once in a while those ducts seem out of place. yea looks close to a NR but they didn't have these ducts on em and the venting was longer and simpler looking, love that NR, if only. Yes they had VFR emblems, easy to take off with a heat gun, so as mentioned look for those marks.

gotta admit I hated the naca ducts at 1st, thought the 4th gen was the ugliest of the Gens.........at first.....that was in 1994 of course. It grew on me big time!!!.....I own one now and love the naca ducts and the whole style.

I like the roundness of the 4th gen front fairing from the side view. I like the front view of the 5th gen better. I even toyed with modifying the strip between the headlights..but never did.

The later gens are kinda "pokemonish" JUST KIDDING (all my vfr riding buddies have 6th gens!)

I am biased (of course) but believe that the 4th Gen is the most distinctive in regard to its styling. Hate the condom mirrors....

Have agree, while the Gen 4 is very pretty side on, love the Gen 5's more purposeful front on scowl while the Gen 4's seem as if they started with Dr Whos Ice Warrior Helmet.
