Do not buy anything from this liar and rip off ! Ebay name chicagoperformance and web site http://www.chicagoperformance.com/default.asp . I bought a screen from them for my 94 VFR and by the pics he had they were all double bubble types. When it cam in it was a stock style screen. I emailed and was told in a rude reply that they never said it was double bubble and they dont make one for my bike. I asked about return and got another rude email saying that I got what I paid for! With this I just left him a neutral feedback to warn others that this screen for the VFR was not a double bubble. Today he leaves me a negative feedback! Not only that but said I called before hand to ask about it, which I never did! What a jacka$#. So Iam going through with an email I just sent him and told him I would post him his results on every forum I belong to! Be warned ... stay away !!!:lever:

Why would he leave bad feedback for you? You were just asking questions. I think you were generous by leaving a N feedback for him. Sounds like he needs to employ the services of a :stripper: to relieve some of that pent-up anxiety...or maybe he prefers a :moonie:.

    Slover,

You responded to him like your avatat. Should have been a pit bull, not a pussy. But kidding aside, the best advertising is word of mouth, or typing fingers in this case. Guarantee your advise will be well heeded here.

SLOVFR, man, as if you didn't have enough pain already. I feel for you brother!

Stories like this are the main reason that I avoid ebay as if it was a social disease. I wouldn't buy anything from ebay. I know i'll get flamed for saying that, but so be it. Use reputable online retailers that pay for their own websites and have legitimate businesses and you will never have a problem, use fleabay and inevitably, you will get burned, have your personal information jacked, or, have your credit card number stolen. It is a fact.

At one point in time, Ebay was a good thing. It was mostly normal people trying to make a dollar or two getting rid of stuff that's perfectly useful.

Now, Ebay is nothing more than a bunch of assholes selling stuff using "Buy It Now" for MSRP. Ummm, why would I buy anything for MSRP & pay shipping when I can get the same thing at the same price 5 minutes from my house?

I use Ebay maybe once a year now.

    KC-10 FE out...

Thanks guys, I know its all about buyer beware .... Just some of those hard to find VFR stuff I get a good deal on. I hate sellers who dont leave positive feedback for you right when you pay. I usually wont buy from someone that states "positive feedback will be left after we receive it" Thats just BS . I am not too concern about negatives when dealing with idiots like this. Just thought I would spread the word

That happened to me once. I called them retaliatory feedbacks. The seller that I'm talking about was giving negatives and neutral feedbacks to everybody that left a negative or neutral for her. Thank God she went out of bussiness. I wonder why!
I've been dealing trough ebay since 1998, so far I still love it. The key is to read all the details of the auction and seller feedback. Ebay/ Paypal has a way to refund you the money, check here for more information "Ebay Security & Resolution Center"
    http://pages.ebay.com/securitycenter/index.html

    Hope this helps!

Ebay should have a policy that will remove retaliative feedback but they wont. The only recourse you have is to leave a follow up message which I did. Plus sent a message via their web site stating that I was posting it up on every forum I belong too (done). Their feedback rating is not too bad but you can tell from the other negatives they left were retaliatory. I should have know that when they showed a generic picture of all double bubbles on bike might would have been a normal one.

Yep, my fault for not asking for specifics I guess. At least I didnt win a CAR with a pic of a Ferrari then get a Pinto ...

I did just read this in the ebay forums. I think its a good policy !

Beginning May 19 or thereabouts, sellers will be able to leave ONLY positive feedback for buyers, and NO negs or neutrals. Think about that. eBay is saying there is NOTHING a buyer can do to deserve a negative feedback. Buyers will be able to pay or not, at their whim. Yes, we can still give them strikes, but the negs have their use, as I’ll explain later. If they don’t like the sellers TOS, s/h charges, or how he parts his hair, they can threaten negative feedback if their demands aren’t met. Of course, the seller can still get the neg even if he gives in to these demands. And, any buyer with 100% positive feedback on May 19, or any buying ID created after that date, will NEVER have less than 100% positive feedback. Among other things, blocking bidders with feedback of (-1) or less will become unnecessary, since no new buyer can ever have a negative feedback score. Nice, huh…?

Bah, sucks that happened. eBay's downward slope is getting steeper every day.

Just buy direct from Zero Gravity man. http://zgoutlet.com

Comes right from their factory in Camarillo.

the other thing you can do is have everyone email him there thoughts ( just done harass or threaten ) ? his email is info@chicagoperformance.com

Ya know what Bri...I have learned, if you are non fully satisfied, either don't leave feedback at all, or totally rip them a new ass because I can almost guarantee you that they will rip you one if you give them anything but a positive. Happened to me years back. I left a neutral, saying what proof I had, and they left me a negative totally ripping my ass. I cannot wait until the new policy starts on May 19th.....it is just a retalitory thing right now.

SLOVFR, Sorry to hear you feel taken by this experience. I can understand your frustration. The latest link you provided was this item, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=220096231074, however, nowhere in that ad does it state the windscreen is a double bubble type screen and none of the pics shown are VFR's. With E-bay it is both buyer and seller beware. Yes, the seller could have been nicer and offered to refund your money if you returned the item but they didn't. I see errors on both sides of this issue and I am not here to try to take away from what someone feels about how they were treated or not treated, or if they feel taken or not. I am just pointing out what I see from the info provided.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad Fleabay experience. As WhiteKnight pointed out though I can see an error on both sides.

Still, the seller should have just accepted a refund minus the shipping to be fair. We all make mistakes and it's just unreasonable to force the buyer to be stuck with what they didn't want for no reason.

One trick I've found useful for filtering out the Fleabays and Ebays is to just send the seller a message asking them a simple question like "How much is shipping?" If they don't even reply forget about them. If they really want and appreciate your business they'll answer questions.

A while ago when I was looking for a good used monitor I saw quite a few "too good to be true" deals and I would send a message to all the sellers asking them what kind of cable does the monitor need. I know it's a pretty simple question but I was able to weed out the ripoffs just by seeing which ones replied and how they replied. You'd be surprised at how many do NOT respond at all. I found a really great deal this way by only doing business with those who actually responded and in a respectful and courteous manner.

I have also been a buyer/seller on eBay since 1998.

The increase in lame buyers has been ten fold in the last two years. I have also gotten into several "feedback wars" with some holier-than-thou buyer who didn't understand my auction requirements. Dumbasses who don't understand that "Ships to USA only" means NO CANADA.

I have made less and less money selling salvaged bike parts, mostly due to increased UPS/postal fees. A higher S&H rate dissuades a lot of buyers from bidding right off the bat. I once shipped the entire exhaust system from a VT500 Shadow to Ontario, Canada for $26 USD. I just recently had to ship a front wheel and tire to Seattle and it was $45. USPS Priority used to start at $3.85 for up to 2 lbs. anywhere in the U.S., now it's $4.60 for less weight, only to selected distances/locations. I have lost money on shipping fees several times recently, where I almost always covered my costs and then some before.

The shipping calculator on eBay sucks, and now they have stripped my right to give negative feedback to a bad customer? Most people don't even run auctions anymore, which totally defeats the purpose of a small time seller to even use the system.

    I'm done.
