Though I don't follow your example quite as diligently as you do, how can one argue against you? You just keep going setting the bar hight for the rest of us to attain.:first:

Aye no question what you SHOULD do.
If i wipe you better believe i'll be wishing i had done so and i'll be saying..damn it only takes 30 seconds to put the pants on.
But i'm not that smart, in town trips(i live in a small town) i do wear jeans, jacket, and gloves...oh and helmet.
i should where my pants but don't always.

I hate to beat this issue BUT...when I did go down it was on my own private property. I was home free after finishing a ride home from work. I let my guard down and in a split second I was sliding from only about 25 mph. I didn't matter how slow it was. I had all the gear EXCEPT I had jeans on. 5 months later I was almost back to normal. "just going down to the corner store" is when it probably will happen.
Say no to jeans. Wear all the gear all the time or don't take the MC...take a bicycle...save the fuel.

I posted the last one before the above two replies came on line so just a few more things...
Obviously I was not always so diligent. I wasn't wearing the protective pants that day I went down. And I had a mesh jacket on...I had mesh pants with knee protection and some hip padding in the closet at home...they would have helped but not as much as full-on leather. I only wear leather now. I didn't want to keep pants at work, change in the AM and when leaving, etc. It is easy to be a bit lazy or have a bit too much faith. The other thing that motivates me is my many years on the bicycles and the rash I have incurred from them. I just know that the arms and the legs take the big hit. I know how quickly things can go wrong. After the MC accident, I know that on the MC the legs and hips really do take it hard especially in a low-side. I know that when crashing a bicycle, the 17 pound bike won't hurt me much but a 500 pound MC will slam you silly. So, I have just learned the hard way. I DO feel strongly about spreading wisdom of any kind. We are here to help each other after all...if I can convice just one of you to FULLY suit before an accident I will feel good. Thanks for letting me try to convince you.

Yup. Agree 98%. I have a Joe Rocket Armoured and Insulated Textile for the winter. The other two are solid leather and perforated leather. I am a firm supporter of leather but in our winters here, leather just does not cut it. I guess to some degree it is risk management.

And I agree with you about the MB crashes v MC crashes. No comparison. But I trust when you are riding the MB you are adequately protected as well. I took a header into some rocks years ago and compressed a disc in my neck. That was around 1992 or 93. I had just put my helmet back on as it was really warm. And incredibly valuable lesson. I have never ridden without since. I have doubts I would be here today if I hadn't put my helmet on when I did.

BTW. I am just stepping out for physio treatments for all my earlier injuries. I was just going to throw on the jacket, gloves and helmet. I will suit up though. Sometimes the little things you do make a difference Nung. Thanks:director:

Things that are on me when I ride the VFR:

    1)Helmet
    2)Gloves
    3)Joe Rocket leather jacket
    4)Boots

For shorter trips, I'll leave off the leather pants. But, if it's 3-4 miles or longer, the pants are on.
