OK, first of all, the typos are killing me. Second of all, the ergos of the bikes are similar but not exactly alike. The VFRs pictured clearly have a larger rake angle, and less aggressive riding position. A little more comfort, still sporty. It looks heavier and seems as though it will have the ABS option, and God forbid, linked brakes. Plus, it would be a V4 and not an inline engine. HP doesn't alone account for the differences in riding experience, like low end torque, different weight distribution, that are definitely not equal when comparing a V4 and I4 engine. <br>
Last thing: <h3>Hard BAGS??? Are you serious? </h3>We need to get some real statistics to put this question to rest. How many people riding a VFR really put the hard bags on those things? I've seen one guy in NC riding with a hard bag. Tank bag, several. Hard bags, on a VFR...um no. You may be thinking about an ST1300 or whatever the heck those things are. <br>
<strong>lack of stock hard bags is not the reason the VFR is not selling well </strong>. It seems the main reason is that the 6th gen bikes don't do anything they are suppose to well. Jack of all trades master of none. Low end torque isn't great, top end speed and HP is comparable to the '04 600cc bikes, Vtec sucks, not enough room for bags or wind protection to be a great touring bike, and did I mention the thing is still a ground magnet that sucks gas at the same rate as the earlier generation VFRs. The VTEC sucks. I said that already. Single sided swing arm is still wonderful and always will be. <br>
Point is, the bike is soft core trying to fit into a hardcore sportbike world. Young kids are buying bikes now. The older riders are getting real bikes, the expensive ones with GPS. Or they get a Busa, now that is a big bike, great for touring, fast, still corners well, everything the VFR is suppose to be?? <br> I know 20 year old guys who have ridden their CBR600 up the coast and back, then popped some wheelies for their teenage girlfriends. This is a lightweight sportbike ruled culture right now. Buckle up or get off the boat.

 

When I asked my buddy *"Carl"* at American Honda in Torrance CA about a new version of the VFR and wether or not I should wait for it... He replied "I wouldn't." He even told me not to waste my money on an '08... just buy an
'06 if you want the tuned up v-tec.

I actually put the hard bags on short hops & trips, keeps cops from pulling me over thinking I'm a young squid on a crotch rocket on the freeway's, besides it's funny to see the faces of guy's at stops on gsxr's, R1's, ect, when a bike with paniers pass them in a corner dragging a knee in the canyons

The VFR still has a place. Look at BMW. Guys are payin a buttload for bikes that do the same thing as the VFR. If Honda were to include hardbags with an improved mount system that allowed for quick, easy, but secure changeout-a guy could cruise home from work, drop the bags with all his work crap and go cruise to the IHOP to meet his squid buddies for a crepe. Or he could come home from work, throw on the bags he had packed the night before, and head out for the weekend ironbutt.
If people knew they could have the same features with better quality for thousands less, they would support the product. That is why the Accord has been so popular for decades now.

 

I bought the bike because I could put hardbags on it. I have had several sport bikes including a Buell and a Kaw and neither were really served a purpose for me. I have a bike to ride and Im not talking about riding down to the local bike night to show how cool I am. If Im going to ride either to work or out for a long weekend, Ive got crap I gotta carry with me. Yeah I wish it had a bigger motor but theres enough there and for what you pay for one and for how cheaply it can be insured it was kind of a no brainer. Also looked at the FJR 1300. Great bike but check out the insurance rates. I havent seen anyone in my neck of the woods that even rides a VFR let alone with bags. I also kind of like the fact that people just dont know what to say. Its usually "What the heck is that"?

 

I`ve also got the factory hard bags, and thats one of the reasons why I bought the VFR..

But next time I will probably buy something sportier....

Well, I perhaps stand corrected on the hardbags thing. And I do like the fact that no one knows what you're riding when you pull up to the gas station. People mostly ask about the single sided swing-arm. <br><h3> "is that custom???", "yeah, don't you see the duck tape?" </h3>

Opinions are like assholes. And that includes mine. Opinion, I mean.

Different people buy the same bike for somewhat different reasons. Your reason is no better or worse than mine. Some guy buys the bike for the factory hard bags. Another guy buys it cause he likes the styling. Another guy likes the SSS. Et cetera.

 

Hey, Hustle. If the 6th Gen is so pathetic why can I hang with the 748s and the other sportbikes one day and ride 500 miles in comfort the next?

 

If Honda would just hire Mello Dude, RVFR, Taz, Reg and now Hustle to design the new VFR, RW would be a happy man :biggrin:

 

The Love and Hate, Like Every Relationship

You may think this is funny, but I've been riding a pearl white 2006VFR for two years. Commute every day. Just put Devil Magnum exhaust on about 1000 miles ago. Can't lie, I love it. And I won't get off the thing for anything less than a 1098 Ducati!!! I can't keep up with the liter bikes, but, I kill 'em in the curves. <br>
I understand my veefa!! She loves me. Like every woman she has her quirks and limitations. I win my battles with her where I can. And the battles I can't win, I walk away.

I also recognize the imperfections but I appreciate the ride just the same.
