Scored one on ebay for 60 bucks shipped, just arrived. I was planning on trying to resell it for few bucks but dang this thing seems too nice to pass up. I figure if I can adjust it to fit my 12.5 inch biceps then it must be worth it!! Any of you guys ride with them? Seems like it would be pretty comfortable, the only thing I don't like is lack of collar.... my neck is very small and so the jacket is open around it exposing skin. Thats what crewneck shirts are for I guess.

What no photos of you in it? whats that all about? What a tease. You did mean turtle neck, not crew right? looks good, but since I can't see it on ya, no defined comment.

Haha not looking for a comment on ME in the jacket! Silly boy!

I did mean crew neck.... then it would come to the base of my neck at least. I just had a little tank top on when I tried it out, which is why I noticed the skin showing being a safety issue. I could also wear a turtleneck for even better coverage. I was just curious if anybody has used this jacket much, and how it performed. I am sure it is better to ride in than my leather jacket, because it does have CE armor in it (shoulders, elbows, lower back, spine).

Don't worry guys, when it stops raining I am bound to get a good picture of me in it on the bike! (like it ever stops raining in Oregon  )

I have the Phoenix 4.0 jacket, no collar on it either. I rather like it over the jacket with the collar. Makes it easier to turn your head, and the collar does not push the back of the helmet up.

What is the model of that jacket?

Nice jacket Shorty! I think it is a good bang for the buck. IMO, I would not be worried about the exposed skin around the skin being a "safety issue" too much as far as accidents go, however, it might make things chillier for you. Wind likes to get down in there and give ya a chill...better for summer though. You're turtle neck (or a Neck Gaiter is what I use most cold mornings) should do the trick.

I bought this jacket (see below) for the gf off of fleabay about a year or so ago....she loves it....lots of vents, good, fit, good padding, and so-forth. I burned it into her head that you need to "wear what you want to crash in" not what is most comfortable.

Did you pull the trigger on any boots yet?

My wife and I both have the Joe Rocket mesh jackets, and we love them. In the summer I wear a wicking shirt underneath it, and it doesn't feel like your wearing anything. They are perfect for the summer.

Sounds good guys. Here the manufacturers page. <--- Click

For safety... I was thinking more along the lines of bees, and other wayward air creatures. I've already had to make a stop to get a bug out of my helmet, and would rather not feel them crawling all over me down my neck. Talk about heebee jeebees.

This jacket has zippered mesh vent areas all over heck! They're on the upper bicep, the back, forearm, and other places I can't remember right now. Plus it has a zip out liner so its good for different temperatures.

It seems like a good deal to me - I see mediums/larges/extra larges see used on there all the time for $140 + and this one still has the tags attached. I am sure this jacket is too small for most guys, seems to fit more like mens xs.

That looks like a nice jacket Stuka. It would be nice to have one cut for a girl, but I don't care all that much. The jacket still fits surprisingly well, which is probably due to all the adjustable spots (pretty much everywhere but the chest). How much did you find that one for?

Nitro - I will have to pick up one of those heat shirts - gotta love feeling like you're wearing nothing at all!

    Shorty,

About the same as you....60 bucks I think...or 70. Pretty good deal I thought.

Yeah, bees/bug on exposed skin sucks.

Yeah, I got a good deal on a HJC helmet for her on fleabay as well. I almost pulled the trigger on that Alpinestarts Stella (click link) jacket, or the Stella Sniper one (camo look) but the seller's on craigslist were dinking around, so I bought the Joe Rocket "Lotus" jacket that I showed earlier.

As l long as your boots cover your ankle, and some (would be) exposed skin, I don't nothing wrong with wearing those around.

All three of mine ore Joe Rocket and I love em all. My winter textile has a collar and that is great. My fall leather and summer perforated leather do not. In the spring and fall, I do wear an Under Armour Mock neck type shirt which works well. In the summer I usually wear a Under Armour Heat Gear top with a mock neck. Even though it is black it is really amazing how it keeps me cool. Keep the jacket. You got a steal.

I got this one for my wife for her birthday a couple years ago. She really likes it. It fits pretty good but she can still wear a sweatshirt under it if she need to.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I will definitely keep it!! I tried it on with a fleece underneath, keeping the collar up, and it still fit well and gave me the neck coverage I wanted. Looks like I can break it in this weekend on a ride to the coast!

sounds like a good deal. I picked up a Joe Rocket Meteor 4.0 on ebay last year that had only been worn a few times for around 80 bucks shipped. Still smelled like new when i got it...had the tags, but not attached. It also has a collar, the bicep vents, a back vent, shouler, elbow and back pads, and a removable quilted liner. works done to about 50-55 degrees with the liner and up to the seventies w/o the liner. Around 80 degree territory I start wearing a JR cbr mesh jacket.

At 60 dollars if the jacket still has sleeves then it's a really good deal! I'd hold on to this one because it'll be hard to find another one like it at such a good price.

As for the neck area you may want to get a mask. CycleGear has one: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=TUC_09-0940&tier2=103

I have one and it works great for really chilly days (below 40 degrees). Yes, you can wear turtlenecks but they don't cover your complete neck/chin area. Driving around at 30 degrees with wind blowing under your chin can be a pretty unpleasant experience

Different subject, a good source of inexpensive gear are motorcycle shows. Here's a site that lists some: http://www.motorcycleshows.com/ The great thing about them is that you can actually see the product in person instead of crossing your fingers with online orders. I got some really good deals at the last show I went. (Leather pants at $120, Hardcore boots at $200, Deluxe tankbag at $120, etc...)

Thanks for the tips, Joey - I'll have to check those out. I've rode bitch on some cold rides, and I know how the cold wind on the chin goes... yikes!

Can't remember if I mentioned or not, this jacket was brand new with all of the tags still attached.
