    Dude,
I doubt anybody here will laugh at you.
Your taste in music is yours and that is all that matters.
I didn't mention that I am a closet Billy Joel fan...(Well I guess I'm out of the closet now.) The first record I ever got was Glass Houses and I think I wore off the needle on my dad's record player on that album!!!

I'm pretty much a die-hard metal head, I like bands such as Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Slayer, Pantera, Rob Zombie, Armored Saint, Tool, Queensryche(metal???),ManO'War and the like. I also listen to the classics, such as Ted Nugent, Zep, AC/DC, Ozzy, Priest, Motorhead. I just got a new AGV helmet, it's quite nice, but I got a small, instead of a medium, so I haven't tried to put my earphones on under the helmet, otherwise I normally ride with earplugs in, as this type of music would, make me ride faster than necessary(just a guess). I also like Techno. Pretty much anything I listen to has to be fast with a good beat. If I want to mellow out a little bit I'll put on some Pink Floyd, or Buckethead.

OK this is going to date me somewhat. My favourites:
Late Beatles from Sgt Pepper on
Led Zeppelin  pretty much all, love the live version of Dazed and Confused and Moby Dick is just a great drive fast song.
    Queen
Pink Floyd, on my fourth copy of Dark Side of the Moon
Most of the heavier more innovative stuff in the 70's.
Then Disco killed my interest in new music for years. Donna Summer Aaaaaargh!!!!!
    Then rediscoverd music with
    U2
    INXS
The Police and the like and more recently Radiohead.

Also like a lot of classical, Rachmaninov Piano Concertos spring to mind and I enjoy a good Italian Opera once in a while.

From the lists of some of you above I can see there is some good stuff I have missed that I need to check out.

    Keep on Rocking.

I like everything on billysastard's list... I think at least a few songs from all of them are on my computer...of course there is 6days straight of music on there give or take... I switched to digital media in the late 90s and pretty much put every CD I have on the comp as soon as I buy it... (and I might have occasionally downloaded an mp3 (legally of course...))

Another G'NR fan...woo hoo!!! I like most everything on this list, but I would have to add motown music, Johnny Cash, MB20 and STP, among others.

Sorry to reply so late. But, I saw the post and couldn't help it. I was sad not to see my favorite (underated/appreciated by so many, except musicians)... RUSH (from '74 thru '07)

Also, Pink Floyd, Metalica, U2, Jimi Hendrix, did I mention RUSH!!!

I've to join in with the "I'm all over the place" people. And like Reg I went digital long ago and move all of my CDs to the computer as soon as they get home. With nearly 8,000 songs in my library there's a little of everything in there. But some of my favorite bands / artists are:

    nine inch nails
    Matthew Good / MGB
    Ministry
    Tori Amos
    Depeche Mode
    The Cure
    The Blues Brothers
    Death Cab for Cutie
    Pink Floyd
    Garbage
    Daft Punk
    Johnny Cash
    Lush
    Portishead
    U2
    Sarah McLachlan
    Michael Buble
    The Wallflowers
    The Neilds
    Sara Bareilles
    Placebo
    Mogwai

I also love movie soundtracks (instumental) and I'm always listening to new stuff to see if I might like it.

    Rock:
AC/DC, Aerosmith, Billy Joel, Boston*, The Cure, The Doobie Bros., Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, The Killers, Led Zepellin, New Radicals, Pat Benetar, Peter Frampton, The Police (& Sting by himself), Prince and the Revolution, The Rolling Stones, Toto, Styx, Van Halen, The Who, and Yes, The Clash, Bruce Hornsby and The Range, Jackson Browne, and Jefferson Airplane.

    R&B:
The Jackson Five, The Commodores, Earth, Wind, and Fire*, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson (before he became a Martian woman), PM Dawn, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Alicia Keys, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Chaka Khan.

Electronic (most of you will call this "techno"):
High Contrast*, Hybrid, DJ Zinc, Sasha, BT, LTJ Bukem, Fauna Flash, Goldie, Kosheen, Klute, Koop, Royksopp, Basement Jaxx

    Rap: Jay-Z*, Public Enemy

Orchestral: Gustav Holst*, John Williams, Mozart and many others.

The * indicates my absolute favorites within each genre. I'll put a favorite 80's music list in a while...it's too much to include here.

And can you believe I actually know people that just don't care much for music! I'm usually jamming at work to some Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Tool or Billie Holliday and the 3rd shifter that follows me won't even walk in my office due to the music. He stands at the entrance cringing(he's a little odd though). Also on my list:

    Harry Connick Jr.
    Stevie Ray Vaughn
    Rage Against the Machine
    Dropkick Murphys
    Flogging Molly
    Linkin Park
    and many many more.

    Later,
    Vs

Is it just me, or does listening to Days of the New make you feel stoned even when you're not? I think they were always so stoned it leaches out of the speakers into my brian...

I am with some of you that say "all over the map" and my map is VERY large. I have over 1300 CD's so I could never do my interests justice with a short list. But, the basic genres would be classical, jazz, rock, progressive rock, pop, folk, Reggae, Bluegrass, ambient, non western (Japanese, Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, Tibetan, Thai, Caribbean, African, middle-eastern, etc.).

So much music, so little time!
