    Hello,
I'm looking for advice on a couple of items I want to change in my 96 VFR:
    1) brighter headlight bulbs. more of a white light instead of the yellowish.
    2) I've seen pics of some bikes, same as mine, where the OEM license plate assembly has been replaced for a much smaller and closed to the seat assembly.
    Where can I get that?

    Thanks in advance.

Used a saw to cut my fender down and make it smaller. As for brighter headlights? I used Sylvania Silver Stars. People kept asking if I had my high beams on. lol

yep it's gone. If need be, we lucky 4th gens have the ability to make a light shine there by adding a little window in the bottom of the rear light, yes you can, take a look. but till I have an officer tell me I need it, I ain't doing it

permanent marker and a box cutter took care of mine. The fifth gen can have the window/light option as well. Taking the old contraption off was a snap. Couple of bolts and one plug-and it's out in one piece.

    Try this:

    http://vfrworld.com/forums/third-fo...2877-home-project-easy-fender-eliminator.html

Pics included of my chop on my '96. Don't waste any money on a "kit". Tools required:
1.) Dremel tool with cut off wheels.
2.) File to make rough edges smooth
3.) Drill for making new holes to mount chopped license plate bracket.

Instructions (remember, measure three times, cut/drill only once!!!):
    1.) Remove rear cowling/tail section.
2.) Using the Dremel (or a saw), cut along the top most edge of the plastic fender, leaving a "tab" at the back(below taillight), approx 1 1/2" long.
3.) Using the Dremel, cut off the metal license plate light from the bracket. Make it smooth and repaint the cut sections with gloss black rattle-can paint.
4.) Line up the modified bracket, and drill two holes in the "tab" from step #2.
5.) Insert the bracket into the holes, and screw on the original mounting nuts.
6.) Enjoy beer and that view of the back tire.

I cut my fender just below the license plate so I still had the plate light, as you can see below:

    Dude -
    - Check out my plate job with the LED. (gallery) One way to go. Other guys like a product called biker bolts - plate bolts with lights in them.

The light bolts a fairly popular - I think CompA, AeroStitch and quite a few others sell them.

-The hacksaw on the rear fendor is a good way to go. Its cheap, just takes a steady hand and patience. It worked good for me.
