You know what I'm been in TX for more than 5 years and never tried the Shiner Bock. I've heard about it, but never had any interest. I think the top seller here is Bud and Bud Light. About the Indio's, I'm telling you man, As soon as I cross the border I find a Cantina and order a Indio, and they charge from $1.00 to $1.50 per bottle. I recommend it to anybody that travels to Mexico. All the friend that I've taken to Mexico, tried it and they loved it :drink:

Hey Guys love this thread.... I actaully own the http://www.beerdrinkersunited.com website..

We just started a motorcycle section in our forums... Sorry for the shameless plug.... Onto my Favorite Beers and I will go a bit further and give my top 10...

    Magic Hat #9
My all time favorite beer to kick back with. I discovered this beer while covering a sales route back when I used to work for Tombstone DiGiorno Pizza. It’s labeled to be “Not Quite an IPA.” Golden amber, thick head. Spicy, fruity hop aroma. Light-medium body. Hugely fruity hop flavor… Nectarines are uses for the fruit flavor. Just a little metallic at the end.
    My Score 10

    Harpoon IPA
Love this beer. They grow good beer in Vermont it seems. Bright amber. High carbonation. Thick head. Big herbal hop aroma, sweet and fruity. Medium body lots of caramel malt flavor. Lots of fruity esters. Lots of English hop flavor. Very mild bitterness. Clean finish.
    My Score 10

    RedHook LongHammer IPA
This Is relatively a new one for me Golden, low carbonation, thick head, good aroma, Big body, sweet at first, with a nice blast of fresh hops. Doesn’t last long, though.
    My score 9

    RedHook Amber ESB
I like this better on tap but I have noticed that Red Hook has recently dropped twist caps in favor of the pop top. Golden-amber. Thick head. Clean, malty aroma. Light-medium fairly fizzy body. Lots of toasty biscuity malt. Esters of dark fruit. Mild hop flavor and bitterness.
    My Score 8

    Magic Hat Batch #369
This flavor seems to only be available on and off in the Magic hat Mix packs.. I wish they would dedicate this flavor to it’s own box or 6 packs! Pours dark copper with a thick, light tan head and light haze. Buiscuity malts and English hops in the nose
    My Score 9.5

    DogFish Head 60 Minute IPA
I like this better than the 90 minute. To me the 90 minute has too much malty caramel flavor This beer has a nice bright deep golden color. Big thick head. Perfumey hop aroma. Medium body. Big perfumey hop flavor with a resiny bitterness.
    My Score 8

    Bass
Brewed in UK this Beer is to me a very good kick back and relax beer. Pale-amber. Very thin head and low carbonation. Interesting hop aroma. (That is, it smells like hop plants.) Not assertive. Well-balanced-mouth-feel, especially for such a light-bodied ale. Quick bitter finish. I love this beer!
    My score 10

Bass + Guinness = Black and Tan
I have just learned that the “layered” Black and Tan is an American affectation. Otherwise in Traditional Irish Pubs across the pond both beers (they use Smithwicks and Guinness because Bass is not available in Ireland.) They are simply poured in the same glass fully mixed if you want it layered they charge extra I am told.
    My Score 10

    Anchor Steam Beer
California Common Beer Red-amber, low carbonation, good head. Not much aroma… Good body, fruity hops. Finishes pretty clean. Low in Alcohol so you can drink quite a few.
    My Score 8

    Shipyard Fuggles IPA
Brewed in Portland Maine the “Mainiacs” give us this wonderful brew. Bright amber, slight haze. Big thick head. Fruity esters, slightly spicy. Medium body, fairly fizzy. Big malty base supports a fairly high bitterness. Some fruity notes, and a slight resiny character in the finish.
    My Score 9

    Harpoon UFO
It takes a brave one to drink this beer in a clear glass. You never know what your going to get. UFO stands for Un-Filtered Offering. Very Yellow in color and strong haze almost murky… Not too bitter with a good hoppy flavor and to me an extremely clean finish.
    My score 9.5

Contrary to popular beleif there really are good beers in america if you are willing to look... Personally I'm just not a big fan of the German Plsner so much so all you guys who talk about your german favorites I'm just not a fan... To each their own.. For me the heavy hop taste of an IPA is second to none! The IPA was brewed in order to last longer for the trips around africa to India...

Wow, I see some good stuff here...in no particular order, as my mood decides what I drink...

    Heiniken Brown Bottle (Dutch)
    J.W. Dundees Honey Brown
    Henry Weinhards Blue Boar Ale
    Warsteiner
    Chimay, Beige, Blue, and Brown/Red
    Molson Ice
    Molson Golden

I'm sure that there are others, but I honestly can't recall right now. I really don't drink too often, perhaps 1 or 2 per weeks, as I have too much school, and not enough self control when I drink. For me it's best to not start, or have my wife limit my intake. My wife likes the Hefe Weizens more than I do, she likes Maisel's Weisses and Erdinger...also Coors light...BLECH!!!!!!

Ironicly my VFR get's a lot of ridicule.... However I have come to understand that they "Mock" what they cannot have and thus it is just "Jelousy"on their parts or not haveing suh an awsome bike....

I want it stated however, as I saw some dunk driver threads: I DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE Beer when I'm on the Bike! I will not do it! Since I enjoy beer so much I tend to go all in and thus get stuck as I will not drive much after drinking...

And, in addition: Homebrew is the best brew by far!

Ahhhh!!! the truth comes through. You are a VFR scooter hooter after all. That's great.

One thing though for everyone here to consider. We must stop looking for drunk drivers and focus on the Impaired Driver. All drunk drivers are impaired, not all Impaired drivers are drunk. But your intent is bang on.

Alcohol starts the absorption into your blood stream the moment it enters your mouth. Any amount of alcohol, no matter how small, affects your ability to perform tasks, to some degree. It might be that no one can measure this but it does. If you feel you have had too much to drink, going for a walk, or drinking coffee or all those wonderful wives tales, simply does not do anything other than to make you wider awake, none the less impaired. The only thing that affects the reduction of alcohol from your blood, it time...plain and simple. To eat higher carb food before or while consuming alcohol slows down the absorption of the alcohol into your blood. This is a good thing. But it still all goes into your blood eventually but the higher concentrations would be minimized by the time factor removing the existing alcohol from your blood. Of course another factor is if you :puke: . I am told it takes 17 minutes for anything going into your mouth, to make it past you stomach.

I spent 25 years in Law Enforcement before retirement. Went to hundreds and hundreds of collisions, only a very few bikes. Only one involving a fatality. My heart tells me he would still be here if he was not very impaired at the time. I don't think he suffered at all. But I dealt with his family. They did.

To the all the families out there affected by Impaired Drivers, I too am not a religious person but you can rest assured, my thoughts are with all of you, even those of you whom I am not specifically aware of.

Drink responsibly or don't drink at all.

    beer.

Excuse: I've tried answering this thread numberous times, but either drink too many test brews prior to hitting "Post Quick Reply" or I spill beer on the keyboard and need to reboot...

    Favorite: Free beer from list...:drink:
Free Miesterbrau just doesn't do it like it did many moons ago.

:first: St. Pauli Girl - Special Dark
This bottled beverage is the ideal beer. It is a dark beer with a sweet finish and not overly filling. Even with the beer goggles on, the beverage consumer is able to compare the target female with the acceptable female on the bottle. No need to worry about waking up in the dog pound while pounding the St. Pauli Girl.

    :second: Dogfish Head I.P.A.
This beverage serves as a place holder for many India Pale Ales, including the Sierra Nevada, Red Hook, and many others. Dogfish brews up both a 60 and 90 minute IPA, where the 90 minute kicks-ass like "the Bull" of you high school years. After reading MrJoelie's account I will add the MH#9 in this category... it is worth the time to edit it back in.

    :third: Stroh's
This is a sentimental favorite that is no longer available to me, but I still recall being able to buy a 30 pack of Stroh's cans for $6.96 at Fetla's in Valparaiso, IN in the mid eighties. This beer was able to make almost anything the fraternity's cook made palletable and helped prepare me for the high-carbon diet I have maintained for the past twenty two years.

    Honorable mentions:
    :llama: Malt Liquor
These delightful malt beverages have higher alcohol content than typical beers and are also available in convenience size packaging. "The Bull", "Colt 45", and Mickey's are the precursor to today's energy drink phenomenons. Did you know that Da Bull won a silver medal in the 1995 Great American Beer Festival?

    Dishonorable mentions:
 Beers with fruit hanging from the glass or shoved in the bottle.... drink a gin & tonic if you need the fruit, or something with an umbrella. Yeah, I'll drink the corona with a lime, but don't consider it drinking beer.

:puke: Beer mixed with tomato-based beverages.

Right on Bubba. It is simply wrong to spoil the good taste and bite beer gives to the back of the throat by putting something into it. Beer's beer and fancy fruity drinks are...hmmmm.....Ice cold and fresh are the important things.

Colt 45! If it Good enough for Billy Dee Williams it "Works Every Time...." LOL

A good friend of mine whose screen name in our forum is Hoss has often made me laugh so hard it hurts... This one time (No not in band camp.) Hoss was approached by a guy we both knew and asked if he wanted a ber... Hoss replied with sure what do you got?" Oh we got lot's of beers I can get yu a Corona with a lime if you want?" Hoss looked sideways at him.... and asked: "Do I have to wear a skirt with that?" Needless to say I had Harpoon IPA coming out my nose....

You guys with the "no fruit in the beer" need to expand your palettes a little bit. All beer needs a sugar of some sort to get those bacteria makin' tha alcohol, ya know. Just replace "sugar" (refined and not tasty) with the fructose found in fruit and other places. You'll note this in my Top 5:

:first: Switchback Ale. Only available in draught, and probably only in my area. It's an unfiltered red ale with a moderate head when poured. So smooth and drinkable. Best beer on the planet. I served it at my wedding - even Bud Light drinkers enjoyed it.

:second: Magic Hat #9. Just as mentioned above. Really, Really good.

:third: Shed Mountain Ale. 7.8% ABV. Dark filtered ale, exceptionally smooth. You do notice the extra kick, though after a couple of pints. Available at the Shed restaurant and pub in Stowe, Vermont, and in 1/2 gallon growlers at finer gas stations in the area.

4.) Long Trail Blackbeary Wheat. A smooth summer lager, fermented with blackberries for a nice finish. Try one of these and you'll forget about other "summer" lagers. Great at a BBQ. Now offered year-round because of popularity.

5.) Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Same as above, but made with Michigan cherries. You can really taste them throughout the bottle.

I am also a fan of dark beers for the most part, especially in the winter time. In the summer, I'll drink a wheat beer, but keep anything with "Lite" or "Light" in the name away from me. If you can see through it, it's not real beer. :closed_2:

Think what is meant is putting foreign stuff in the beer after brewing.

Yep...you need sugar to get alcohol. Beer (Canadian beer anyways) gets it from the barley and in many beer, they add a product commonly referred to as corn flakes. Not Kellog's though. Most of the sugar comes from the corn. Also worked in a brewery for 5 years...I think....I was drunk most the time but that goes back farther than I care to disclose. This may explain my passion for pure ice cold (Best served at 37 F.) virgin beer. Should be poured gently into the centre of a glass or mug and end up with about 1 inch head. If the head dissappears quickly, you have a dirty glass. Chug that one and start over.
