Do you have bluetooth on your GPS that you were listening to? Also, what is V1?

For daily commute, I ride without listening to music.
For a weekend ride, I might use the Ipod for some background music.
Not loud, just enough to listen to the surroundings :fear: and the music :music:

More recently (last summer) I managed to side-step an incoming squidly missile sliding out of control at me while stopped at a light.
I heard the squeal of his locked-up tires also...
I cringed as he decked it and slid out into the intersection but stopped before getting creamed.
I refused to help him pick up his bike or the pieces - I didn't want to be associated with him in the public's eyes.

Rat, I agree that I wouldn't want to be associated with the squid but you miss a great opportunity to talk to him and suggest what he may have done wrong.

    IMHO

I ride listening to tunes about 80% of the time. I have my Zumo 550 loaded up with mp3"s and have it streamed through bluetooth to my nolan helmet

I have a friend who has the almost exact same setup. The other night we were trolling for squids and we stopped at our fave sushi bar. My friend tried to eat some and got wasabi all over his face shield.

This is such a bullshit thread...

Ever fucking occur to any of you that there are thousands of DEAF riders/drivers out there. Not hearing impaired, TOTALLY DEAF! You don't need to hear anything, you need to be watching EVERYTHING!

No, I'm not one of those thousands of deaf riders. Yes I wear my iTouch constantly while I ride to work, or out for the day. I still hear my motor and those loud Japanese mufflers on cars. I still hear the wind. Hell, I still hear my tires whine on the road. I have my iTouch almost at full blast!

Look for the idiots in your mirrors, to your sides, way the hell ahead of you, and way ahead on the side streets that will undoubtably pull out in front of you. Stay OUT of blind spots. Never stay in pace with a car/truck with your front wheel near the rear of their vehicle. That's a great way to get in an accident when they shift lanes on you all of a sudden and clip your front end, when all you had to do was either stay back 5 feet or pass the idiot. If you are in pace with a vehicle, every once in a while push ahead to let them see you. THEY don't look in their mirrors for you, and even if they do most of them don't have the mirrors adjusted properly anyhow. And yeah, PROPER following distance!

nuff said... although I think some of you out there should have red tipped canes attached to your motorcycles the way you ride - without caring what anyone else is doing on the road you are SUPPOSED to be sharing with other motorists. At least it would let the other people around you know that you're deaf, dumb, and blind. Then THEY can adjust accordingly.

I never thought about that. I think it safe to assume that the deaf riders don't listen to music while riding, giving a whole new meaning to the term deaf and dumb.

    Thread moved

I have moved this thread to a more appropriate location, the Anything Goes forum. While I have not really followed this thread, I should have moved is a while back as this is a better place for it.

I think I commented on this on a different thread, however, if so, I will just double your information! ha!

Ok, I picked up the Sandisk Sansa C250 2GB MP3 player (thanks to slovfr for recommending it)from circuit city about two weeks ago now. It was on sale for $59.99. SLOVFR said it was on newegg.com for $29.99 last week after I bought it. I am pretty darn happy with it. The buttons are easy to use with gloves, and I like that it has an FM radio as well. I bought the skull candy earphones, and I am fairly satisfied with them, but I am always on the lookout for the better noise reducing earphones (reasonably priced). I bought the acurian armband for 10 bucks from Radio Shack to use with the Sansa. It works pretty good as a combo.

For the money and value, I would have to rate it 4 strippers out of 5:

    :stripper: :stripper: :stripper: :stripper:

Oh, and as an added bonus, it works as great arm protection in a slide (see above photos in prior post)!

I tried bidding on some shure earbuds on ebay but I lost to someone who was stupid enough to think they were worth too much... eventually I'll get some I guess. I'll let you know if they are worth all the hype. I lost my last set of bud, but I had already broken one of them anyway. My sansa view I can skip songs with gloves on, but can't really make fine tuning while riding. I can watch movies while I ride, though, which is always fun when the traffic is slowing me down and I can't get a stoppie in.

Is there any such animal as a bluetooth ear buds with microphone, that can be used with the Zumo 550 for quality music and mobile phone?

i haven't seen bluetooth earbuds per se but I have seen some pretty small over the ear bluetooth sets where there was one earbud. I did see one stereo set of bluetooth headphones but it didn't look like it would fit inside a helmet comfortably... http://shop1.outpost.com/product/52...dSS-EMcSA**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

wait, I think I may have found what you are asking: click this one: http://shop1.outpost.com/product/50...lSbjmqFrw**.node3?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

The SONY DRBT10CX looks like it might fill the bill. I didn't see that the Sony Ericsson Stereo Bluetoothâ„¢ Headset HBH-DS980 had a microphone. Well, for $100 it might be worth a try to see how it works. Thanks for the tip.

Ya know, I just do not see how a bluetooth headset could ever work in your helmet on a bike since we have lots of very loud wind noise turbulence rushing by creating all sorts of static.....it would be hell just to talk to someone it seems. Hmmmmm....
