    LOL!

Yeah, who would have thought it would have turned into this!. Certainly wasn't what I thought would happen. I was just sitting at the computer at home thinking of another winter thread question and tossed it out for all to enjoy.:yield: The mind is a terrible thing!

I took the time to read through the whole thing the other day and I have to say I love what people had typed and are still typing! The entertainment value has not been lost!
I think this thread should be required reading for all new "Insiders". Maybe we could start a kind of VFRWorld Trivial Pursuit with this thread. A who said what? What bikes are named? Who's are resident troll? (That's easy elf800). What music different memebers like. All the personalities are represented and represented well I think.

I did start to worry I might be thrown off VFRWorld when this thread took off, but hey, it's the gift that keeps on giving:wink:

    Enjoy!

I have to vote yes - I can't stand them... the machines, the typical riders, and the whole lifestyle that they are so proud of.

Having just purchased my VFR a few weeks ago, my mom was apparently talking with a friend who rides a Harley, and she mentioned that I bought a new bike. He asked her what I bought, so she called me and asked. She relayed my answer of "a Honda VFR" to him, and I heard him ask "what size is that?" because he had predictably never heard of it. I told her it is an 800, and at the other end I hear him say "oh, so it's a little bike". I didn't disagree.... I just said "yeah it's not really a big engine" and left it at that.

So several days later, this guy tells my mother "those bikes are dangerous. They're made for all out speed". So of course I get a call from a concerned parent, asking me if that is true. I can't fault her for that - she's my mom afterall.

So, I took the time to explain "okay, I have read that my new bike can go maybe 155 miles per hour - but that doesn't mean that I will be doing it. A Harley can probably break 100, but I doubt your friend is doing that either. My bike has great handling and braking that I can use to help avoid accidents, and even though it has the capability to be ridden really fast, that is not why I bought it. I think of my wife and kids every time I am out for a ride."

I had to throw in the fact that I never ride without a good helmet and an armored jacket. I asked if her friend wears a helmet but I already knew the answer - of course not. In my state, helmets are optional and most Harley riders have some great excuses as to why they are so awful to wear.

Thanks a lot Mr. Wallet Chain Harley Guy!

Before anyone asks, this is me, KC-10 FE, no one has kidnapped me or stolen my user name.

My idiot neighbor & his Orange & Black Cult member friends stopped by today when I was in my driveway changing the oil on my bikes. He has 4 HD's, 2 VROD's, a blinged out Sportster & something that I can't tell what it is due to all the crap he's bolted onto it. After listening to thier sheep-like bleating for a few minutes, I told them to amskray. My neighbor, sensing that I wasn't liking the treatment, offered the olive branch of letting me ride his one of his VROD's. 1 is bone stock & the other (he says) is putting down about 135HP to the rear wheels. Considering that I have to live next to this pinhead, I don't want to build walls so to speak.

Should I take him up on his offer?

    KC-10 FE out...

Is there a chance he would ask to ride your bike? If so, I wouldn't. This doesn't sound like a guy 1)you're fond of or 2)you'd trust to ride your bike. That's my take...

You know, I was riding today and I passed a guy on a cruiser going the opposite direction. In an attempt at being a polite human being, I waved to him as he passed. Well, that's my mistake because I think he flicked me off as we passed. Has anyone else gotten this treatment from the cruiser crowd?

Ive noticed MOST HD riders dont know much about motorcycles, how to ride them or how to maintain them .

They DO know about leather, fringe, chrome , cleaning products and how many burnouts you get out of a back tire.

    KC:

Would you let him take the VFR for a ride? If no, then I would NOT take any of his machinery for a ride.

A very friendly thanks for the offer, but no thanks and stay neighborly to him.

    My 2 cents!

Being recently a member in good standing of the cruiser crowd I can say that I never had that experience regardless of whatever bike I waved at and I waved at everybody. Some just didn't return the wave but 99% did.

Awhile ago there was a poem,
    About some riders waving.

As time goes by it seems,
    The scene is always changing.

It told (the poem) of scooter wavers,
    Dweebs to a man,

    Different signs ricerocketeers, make
    Waving if they can.

And those who chose to never raise,
    A warm or friendly hand.

It told (the poem) the poet's tale,
    His style of waving: back
    .
To all who chose to wave at him,
    He always would wave back.

A small exception there and that was
If we care to look back.
Was not to wave at all the dudes.
    At anytime..
With milk crates on their racks.

The poet takes license here writing in the spring,
Besides mea culpa me. I wrote the awful thing.

Of new wild groups of riders,
    Sub members of the clan.

Who never choose to lift or wave or raise a friendly hand,
who don't salute or give a hoot.
A growling group of tyrants bandits of the road.
    Bedecked in all black cowskin,

    From top to tippy toe.

Where the dad gummed camera Ma,
    The thunder herds a-comin.
Race-roaring down the down the slab
    Below the radar's hummin.

The names may well be different,
    The crankpins are the same.
    The sound is unmistakable
The dudes all look the same.

These newbie badass bikers join the long long ride.
    Who are these Iron cowboys,
Who will not raise a hand?
Sort of like you N me partner,
    Paying down their loans.

    Cruising down the blacktop,
    Some on Harleyclones.

That one would have to be sung by Annie Ross. There actually is a song called "Harley Davidson." Wanna take a shot at who wrote it?

    Thanks guys!
