    Hi all,

I've just signed up this moment as I have just lost all patience in the garage with my new project. I have a VFR750F K 1989. I am quite handy with a set of spanners so my embarassing question is..

How the *censored* do I get the seat off?

BTW, what a fantastic bike. Ive been on sports bikes for years and none of them quite lived up to the hype. This one does, and then some, the engine burble, the torque, the speed, the comfort, the handling, and its nearly 20 years old. What a machine!!

    Any help gratefully received.

Met... can you transpose SLO's comments to your thread so the next bloke will find it when it gets searched? I've got a sixth gen, so did not risk pulling the wrong answer. Welcome- Paul

Through the magic of the instant chat feature I was able to help this gentleman out. What a great thing the internet is when you can get immediate help from across the pond !!

As for the answer for seat removal for new owners = put key in helmet lock located on left rear passenger foot peg bracket. Turn it all the way counter clockwise and not that there is a lever in the back of the lock that drops down. Now reach around and pull that lever down further while lifting up on the back of the seat. That should do it unless you got a stuck lock or broken cable! Correct me if I missed a step. Brian

IF you're sneaky and have small hands you can hook a finger around the cable and pull WITHOUT the key...........

Thanks SLO not only do I get help but you also save me having to type up the answer, cheers. Bike is now in lots of dirty bits. Now the hard part of making those bits shiny again. During the restoration process I'm sure I'll have more questions but I'll upload the finished article for all to see.

I believe there is another user in this very same restore job right now that has a few steps done. It looks very nice as he is posting the pics as he goes. I'll try and dig up the thread so you can check it out. We'd love for you to start your own message about your restore with pics and all, too.

Here it is. Not the same year, but it's still a great read: http://vfrworld.com/forums/first-se...3-vf750f-resto-project.html?highlight=restore
