If the jacket and helmet fits (and it's not nasty inside), I'd go for the 1990. I think that body style is it! They haven't made a better one yet. Well, execpt for the RC-30, perhaps. I'd check the regulator, see if it's been replaced ($100 repair), other than that, their pretty much bullet proof.

    90 vs 1996

What he said, exactly. You'll never be sorry. Also, 5.5 rear wheel for 180 tires.

I'd go for the 96, not just one of the best VFR's, one of the best motorcycle's ever made period!

Right, the '95 is a better bike in many ways and is easier to work on.

Boy talk about being torn, yea I'd lean towards the 96, lots of little things they improved on between the years, and thats a very good price. paid 3800 for mine then added the staintune and other goodies, be very hard to go wrong with that one and the millage is good too. but man that's one sweet 90 vfr, damn I'm digging those white wheels

    Thanks for the input guys.

Oddly enough when I was just browsing the internet I didn't like the looks of the gen4 / 5's as compared to the 6's. After going to the Honda dealership and sitting on a gen6 I was compelled to get one. So why am I looking for a gen 4/5 all of a sudden? I was driving down the freeway yesterday and saw what looked to be a vfr in my rear view mirror. All of a sudden he punched it and flew by me. The sound and exceleration blew my mind. I could tell it was a gen4 or 5 but wasn't sure. As luck would have it he took the same exit as me. I pulled up alongside of him and got his attention. I told him I'd been looking at the 6's but after seeing and hearing his beautiful bike I would be shifting towards a gen 4/5. He told me the only thing he had done was to put a Two Brothers pipe on it, other than that is was bone stock. I absolutely love the way the older bike looks in person. Now I'm on the hunt with cash in hand for one of these. I want to stay under 5k and there are a ton of them in and around that price.

    I'm on a new mission now:peace:

If you ever need to remove the upper fairing on that '90, you'll curse the day you bought it!!!!! IN fact, you'll curse everything in sight!!

I had that same year (1990) VFR from '92-'94. It had a left side Two Brothers pipe on it. It was beautiful and had the most wonderful sound. If I didn't want ABS (on my '05), I'd buy that '90 right now. Too bad my '05 is silver. If it was red, I'd toss some white rims on it to replicate the '90 look. :)

    Well,

The newer bike was sold and I was bored on my way home yesterday. I decided what the he!!, I'll just go look at the older bike. I really wasn't expecting to be that impressed, but when I saw it I was absolutely amazed. This bike looked like it should be on display in a museum! It is so fricken clean it literally looks like it's never been ridden. There isn't a smudge nick or scratch on it. The motor looks and sounds beautiful. The guy who owns it has a special carpeted space in his garage with a bike cover on it when it's stored. Oh... and the sound when you opened it up was heart pounding!

As you may have guessed by now, I'm buying it.:clap2:

I'm picking it up tomorrow morning, but until then I'll be drooling over the pics.

    Here's my favorite:

Bought and rode it all weekend.

One question, where should I run the rpms on this thing? By that I mean where is optimal shift point 3k 4k 5k . I know it may be stupid, but I just want to run it at it's optimal revs.

+ 1, I just asked this in my thread on my 5th gen...

I was thinking 5.5 - 6k seems a good cruise rpm for me... shifts at 6,500 - 7,000... I could be nuts though...
