Which would you get and why? Hi mount or low mount Staintune for a 1994 VFR. What would you consider a good price?

I have seen it priced at $549. Does that sound reasonable?

For new, yes $550 is reasonable. Remember, it's made & then shipped from Australia. At least $100 of that price is import fees, customs & tariffs.
I have the low mount since I eventually plan on getting Givi hard bags. After an EXPENSIVE phone call to Staintune, I was quite litterally told not to get the hi-mount if I wanted to mount the Givi Tubular Side Case Holder.

Like KC mentions, depending on your riding if you know for a fact you'll be getting soft bags later on, then yes the low mount, but overall the high mount IMHM is way better looking. Price, yea thats about the going price. check out CBT imports for the latest on pricing, is where I got mine. http://www.cbtimports.com/

You ended up getting one hey? Nice work mate. I will be in your neck of the woods all summer.

Can't wait to hear 2 staintunes, side by side on 2 identical bikes. rumbling up the sea to sky.

I love my LV's! But I hear the staintunes sound really nice too. I wish there were more VIFFERS up in Rhode Island so I could hear other peoples bikes!

Powderrecon your avatar makes me want to go ride my mountainbike. I think I shall after work.

Absolutely the hi-mount looks better. I need the usefulness of the lo-mount so I was willing to sacrifice one for the other.

You guys have bike parks in that part of the world? That's a lookout from the top of Whistler. If you have never been to Whistler in the summer, and are into gravity mountain biking, you are missing out.

I would lovvvve to have a Staintune, I think its the best looking pipe out there. But I have become hooked on the carbon. Its never hot to the touch and super lite. Once you have a carbon youll never go back.

For sure, Ash. Looking forward to it!

It'll sound like 1/20th of a NASCAR starting grid.

I think I'll go for the high mount I just hope I don't suddenly want to go on extended trips where I wish I had side bags. The $494.00 with free shipping is the best I have found.
    Thanks for everyone's input.

Good eye you have. Took me a while to figure out the process as far as the look I wanted to have. Pretty easy, took off the plate light and used the upper mount hole as a guide in how High I wanted it to be, from there I went and bought a brand new PVC pipe saw, these are made with a different tooth to cut plastics, I then scribed in a straight line across, then hand cut it at a 45 degree angle to make sure I stayed straight and true. I then used the reflectors that are close by to give me the radius on the side cut and I used the same saw to get it close, then used a Dremel sander at low speed to get it really close, once done with that process I wetted down some 500grit wet and dry sand paper to take all the burrs off, wa-la you have what you see.

Thanks for the answers and steps to make it happen.
It did look just the same as the OEM but cut. I just wanted to make sure.
    A nice spring project
