Some of those Harleydoods have taken to wearing lifts in thier boots because they want to be the bigger man. One might think a rolled up pair of sox stuffed down the front of one's knickers might do, but no, "they" have to go all out.

I don't "hate" HD riders or HD. I like the way they and other v-twins sound, but not the extremely loud ones. Hell, my VFR is pretty loud when I get on it. I like how some of them look too. I like motorcycles - period. We all have an attitude ourselves too with our proud VFR group here! What's the difference? Many posters talk about their "costume". WTF is that? What about half the guys that wear one or two piece leathers for canyon carving or street riding? That is a costume too as soon as you get off the bike.

As far as arrogance, attitude, and predudice goes - you get the same BS from all kinds of bikers, motorcyclists, customizers and stunters alike. I have met just as many sport riders as cruiser riders that are also fuckin retards. Like the guys that have 8 sport motorcycles in their garage just to be cool or have something to talk about (and are also $25K in debt). They are no different than the guy or gal that likes to have one nice bike and put all his money into that one bike.

And the clothing thing? HD clothing, IMO, is no different than buying Polo, Gap, or Levis. It's a brand name - leave it at that.

Posers? People should look at themselves on this one too. How many of you drive a 4X4 truck, SUV or Jeep with a six inch lift and giant off road tires? 95% of the time, that truck is being driven on clean pavement. Or you guys with your WRXs and Mitsu Evolutions. When is your car ever going to be flying up a mountain back-road at 90 mph? How many of you go to the gym and lift weights? Image.

All I'm saying is that people always wanna talk trash when there is plenty to make fun of yourself for too.

I wave at everyone and say hello to every biker and motorcyclist I can. If they don't want to return the courtesy, that's their f'in problem.

Wow that took a long time to bite.

Having owned previously, would still get a new Gen 6 and totally cold to the Triumph ST found I needed to make an observation highlighting the anti Gen 6 comment.

With teeth grinding must concede you did own and put honest miles on a VTec therefore have credibility BUT as this is a VFR Forum with a lot of members who really really love their Gen 6 thought your eloquent defending of Harleys and the spirit of motorcycling with the simple effective pearl statement on one hand while insulting Gen 6's in your signiture on the other somewhat inconsistant, guess I'm the only one who thought that so must admit to being the one confused.

Moving on have never owned a Harley but after spending a lot of my '70's childhood years staring many hours at the large Easy Rider poster on my wall, would like to keep my mind open to perhaps try out that childhood daydream one day.

Personally have found the majority of normal HD riders in 2 main camps. First the twat posers that fart around the suburbs making sure you can see and hear how cool they are and the second unobtrusive yet much cooler groups met riding in the sticks, in the 2nd grouping have often met with interesting older couples with genuine biking time and found them always polite and great folks to have a coffee or quiet beer with, I'd like to be with one of those cooler groups calmly touring the back country when the time comes.

    Harleys = ass jewelry

    LOOK AT ME

For most people I know its not about the ride. I have some friends who ride hd. 1 works for the Co. and buys a new one every year. He puts about 10k on a year, hard miles, and has problems with the bikes. Leaky this, blown that.

The other friend is just a posser. Dew rag , loud pipes etc. Its all about the look. Whatever.

Had a local hd club set up a ride around here a couple of years ago, signs marking the route right past my house. Saturday morning I get woken by hordes of boat anchors thundering past. Peace and quiet returned after some of the signs mysteriously came up missing.

    The LOOK,

If you spent that much money on something so unreliable and ill-handling, your ears are ringing because of the loud pipes and you spent all week shining it up to ride it 6.5 miles to the bar, you would have that look too.

    Just my opinion

I got up this morning. While changing my clocks I decided I hate anyone who owns, rides or even occupies the same space as a Moto-Morini.

OK, I'll play some more since you seem to be looking deeper in the statements, which I have rarely found on here (another words you think B-4 you type).

My signiture reguarding the evolution of the VFR's are, was "a joke" was origanally a stab @ the same Gen 6 reasoning as the you drive a rice rocket Harley groups :scared: (which has now moved to stretched/chromed GSXR thread:rolleyes: ), ment it to be temporary, but then I was thinking of the actual evolution of the gens & the route Honda choose.

Being a person thats had all of the Gen's, Being a racer(for 40 years), performance minded person, it actually made since to me. In my mind & true performance die hard past & present owners agree that Honda went the wrong way with the bike.
Then coped out & changed the motor & pigged it out.

Now I actually like sport bikes converted to ST's because they maintain there sportiness. the gen 5 started leaning to what it is today, but still kept the motor as it was a sportbike.

Most people that have only owned the 6th (most not all) did buy it to be a easily handling don't care about the weight, forget your problems high speed "cruiser" sport touring bike.

I actually went that route (old age & still like performance) and bought the 6th gen, but after I did, I kept comparing it to all the others I had & realized I bought a bike that left it's roots & didn't work for me.

Hince what I saw missing I found what Honda should of moved to in the evolution of the VF/VFR but didn't. To make the bike better in the form of the '06 Triumph Sprint ST (More HP, better handling, better brakes, destinct motor sound, reliable, just as comfortable).

So I'm not knocking that 6th gens that are bought, just that Honda could of done better & it comes from experiance, the bike is good (it's a Honda) just not the best of the gen's & "even it's class".

I'm the customer, & I should be able to buy the best, the 6th gen just isn't that.
The Triumph isn't either, but is a much improvement over the 6th gen.
As I said, previous gen 6th owners, & the rags have pointed that out.

Can't remember the right up on one of the mags, but one writer said -
take 10 people that never road a Honda VFR & a Triumph Sprint, that have no loyalties to either manufacturer.

in traffic, canyons, & the track, 9 out of 10 will pick the ST after riding them both !

Honda needs to step up, as a Honda Loyalist, I'd much rather ride a Honda, but not when there off par with others

    Carry on

p.s. If you really like your VFR 6th gen, don't ride a Buell 1125 ( I like it even better than my Triumph:eek: ).

Thank you Taz for clarifying your thoughts. I understand you now (but didn't before). Everyone has an opinion and the experiences you have from the older bikes does give you a unique perspective.

OK, ONE last bit from me and I am SO done with this thread...
In the April 2008 Cycle World is a David Edwards column on Rollie Free, the Indian rider who set a number of speed records. He was" Harley Hater Number One" per Mr. Edwards. The column is a great read. Check it out...a neat way to cap off all this hullabalou!

    OK...I AM DONE! :becky:

I love the style, but I hate the culture. That fat-ass, bearded culture that supposedly goes with a potentially very gorgeous bike. I'm a huge fan of the Dyna Wide Glide. Great looking bikes, all of them.

We shouldn't hate Harley-Davidson...after all, mechanics need jobs, too. :)

    As usual, proven your ignorance,

I said way back when (80's to be exact) & they didn't pay sheeit & to write for free @ 1st (intern or what ever, I vagly remember). Regret it now to meet & talk to many of the greats, sure I'd be stupid if I didn't think that would be great, & trying all the new stuff & components as well.
But I was on my own going to college full time & working full time. As well as when ride a bike, I like M/C's to be mine & it stay's with me until "I DECIDE" when I don't want it any more.
Would I do things different if I could do it again, - NO, I'm happy on what I've owned & accomplished.

Love to see you on a track sometime to see if your riding is as fast as your mouth:rolleyes: .
I'll be in Virginia, Georgia, Phoenix, Cali, Nevada, Utah, for the '08 season for track day's & maybe a race or more if you want to bang some elbows & scrape paint

p.s. Eddie is a nice guy, met him several times

sorry all to Hijack this thread further that I thought was dead & buried, but sheeit happens :smash:

    Bubba,

I have completly rethunk my position on the Velocettes and Moto-Morinis and am starting my day with a hate campaign toward anyone who rides or has ever ridden a Combat Wombat.
