I have finally taken the plunge and bought a 2002 VFR. I love it. My last bike was a V-Max and I sold it in 1996. I think I picked the best bike for my reintroduction into motorcycling. Anyway, good to be with you all.

Congratulations on the new purchase. The VFR is a very competent machine. I have a buddy with a V-Max and that is one serious bike. You're down a little on HP, but overall, I think you'll be happy.

Thanks Stewart. I really am impressed with how refined the VFR is. The low and mid range are very good. Its better than all my friends bikes and at a third/fourth of the price. My friends ride Harleys. They love em, I'll take the Honda.

Do the Harley guys try to make you ride behind them, or are you usually out front so far that they just gap you so you're further away ;-)

welcome to the site. bike looks nice with the bags.

Not to offend anyone, but I can't take the noise so I make a habbit of darting ahead of them. They apparently love the sound, it wears on me. When they ask me why I don't like the sound, I simply reply, "I prefer the sound of performance." I dont want to offend them, they did pay an average of $20,000.00 for their bikes. I can verify that cause I was with a few of them when they bought em.

If I paid that much for a bike I'd want it to be TWO motorcycles.
Anyway, welcome to the neighborhood! You'll like it more and more...it is like riding a swiss watch...one that goes really fast!

Trust me the sound of a 6th Gen can't be beat compared with those Hardleys! For $20k you can trick out your VFR and still have money leftover. And as for riding ahead of them, I don't think you have an option here; if you stay too closed to their bikes the vibration will make you loose your fillings!

Thanks guys, this is a good group on this forum. I'm such a Geek I couldn't ride so I went out to the Garage to start the Bike so I can hear the engine. Is that sad or what?

welcome to the group. one of the cool things you will be able to do is ride ahead of them and then stop, get ready, and take pics of them as the cruise by... then you'll be able to pass them all and repeat the procedure... it's fun for you and they get to see themselves looking all cool on their hogs...
