Well, I'll get it started. I'm hoping eddievalleytrailer will jump in and take over on the planning.

If you've never been, or heard of Deal's Gap, then visit this link --->linky, or go to www.killboy.com where you can find tons of great photos from the Gap.

Basically, you've got an 11 mile stretch of road with 318 curves in it. Some of them are so tight, that as you're exiting, you're literally facing the guy behind you. That's just the Deal's Gap part. The entire area is riddled with roads like this.

It's an absolute blast to ride, and if we can get a bunch of us down there at the same time, it'd be that much better. Plus with the addition of a photographer ...ahem... PUSkunk... we can get some good shots for memory sake.

As it stands right now, I may be going down April 26 through the 30th. Maybe we can plan for that weekend.

Here's one of the maps that float around, and if you stay tuned, later this week I'll try and post a highlight video that I made.

I've never been there before, but it's not *that* far from my house, just a few hours. I'd be more than willing to take some shots, I can't guarantee they'll be quite up to killboy.com's stuff. Wasnt there a huge law enforcement presence up there recently on pretty days?

Yeah, the Law Enforcement has increased, but if you pay attention to people grouped up at either end, they'll give you a heads up as to where they're at. Or you could just take it easy and enjoy the road, and you should be fine.

Well, I've posted that I would be willing to host a ride in the area. I have not recieved much response, but this is a GREAT place to meet and ride. We have the best BBQ in the world, and TONS of great places to ride. The Dragon is only one place. It is the most popular and I enjoy going there, but there are so many places to go. The "Wheels Through Time" museum is a great place to visit. There are a lot of Harleys in there, but where else can you see the owner of the museum do a HUGE burnout on a 1939 Indian, 1955 Harley or even a 1939 Crocker!! He has one of Evil's jumping Harleys in there. When I saw that thing, I thought "How in the world could that thing ever jump anything, much less a bunch of school busses?"
We could meet and greet in Jonesborough, TN, then take the scenic route to the Dragon on Sat, then a shorter ride on Sun. I'm pretty flexable on dates, so we just need to get together and pick a weekend when the most riders could make it. I could also talk to the local Americinn about reduced rates if we have enough riders interested.

I won't get there this year just too much on the personal plate but if this ever becomes an "annual" I make it for sure.

If any of the Delaware valley group is thinking of heading down (whether trailered or riding) let me know. This is one ride I definitely want to do at some point. There's so much to love about this stretch of road.

Can you provide some more details or a link to what's being memorialized... TexasMac sounds like a chili dish at Hard Times Cafe. Their chili is good, but I never heard of a memorial ride for chili.

    thanks!

I'm headed to Keith Code's CSS course at VIR on May 20.

After that, it's a great place to test out the new found knowledges.

If anyone's going on the 21, 22, 23, then I hope to catch up.

I'll be down there April 13th-18th. Just put down my deposit a few hours ago. Myself and PaRedViffer will be there among some of my other riding buddies. This will be my third year in a row. I love it down there!

Texasmac was the nickname of a fallen member on vfrd. He had an accident a few years ago on hwy 28 in NC. One of the mods on vfrd was with him that day, and now we have an annual memorial ride in his honor. I personally didn't know him, but he was a fellow rider and I look forward to paying my respects to him. Not to mention the great riding there will be. I'll post a link tonight when I get home(I'm on my iPod now).

    PUSkunk those pictures are hot!

    Jev your avatar is distracting!

Eddievalleytrailer, looks like most people that would be interested have already made their plans. Lets just keep this thread going, and maybe if nothing else, some members will have have coinsiding plans, and meet up during each of the dates listed so far.

That sounds good. If anyone planning to head this way wants to hook up, let me know. I'm always game to ride down to the Dragon or explore other places in the area. It would be nice to meet some of you face to face.
