Hey, they have two wheels so I don't hate 'em. Wouldn't buy one. One possible exception is the XR-750, it would make an awesome hooligan! The XR-750 was one of the best bikes ever built.

A thought. When we make generalizations about a particular type of bike we usually base it on a personal experience. I think Taz has it right. Its the person not the bike. I broke down once in the middle of nowhere and some guys stopped to help. What just about everyone would have called real dirt bag bikers. Turned out to be great guys helping someone out. Be cool and enjoy the ride and don't worry about someone elses bad attitude.

I purchased a tee-shirt from American Angst which read:

If I had wanted to spend my life working with the mentally retarded,
I would of gone into special ed or opened a Harley dealership.

Sadly, he doesn't make shirts anymore. It was great fun to wear at the AMA Superbike races. I've never had my picture taken so many times with complete strangers.

I mostly just hate the attitude of the riders.

Did I mention I don't care for the owner rider much? The machine I can dis guard fairly easy, those humans that ride em are something else.

    Hello RVFR,
while you are mostly correct, please remember not all HD riders are CRAP.
I would not think of my self as that type of person and i ride one, i truly am nothing like that profile, theres good and bad in every person, my friends that are HD riders also, i let know ofton that i DONT agree with some of them in any way on meny things, heck my own brother is a cop and i dont agree with him on all things.
i dont want you to get upset, im not scolding you i just wanted to show a nother side to this ?

P.S. dont tell any one but i enjoy riding my vfr more than my chopper wow im must be getting old but the vfr dosent hurt as bad ?:yield:

I can honestly say I hate the squids MORE than the HD douchebags. Why you ask? Simple, the bikes HD makes are useless garbage from the factory. The squids take a perfectly USEFUL motorcycle & turn it into a USELESS poseur POS. Therefore, they suck.

KC-10 FE has decreed this so it shall be so. That is all, carry on.

    KC-10 FE out...

And not only that, i hate them as they negativly affect how others view sportbike riders.. A HD forum could easilly have a thread "Do you hate sport bikes?" and most of there complaints would be even more valid than ours. I've been on a cruiser and had sport bikes not wave...maybe they view us as elitiest?

I really haven't met a motorcycle I didn't like though the jury is still out on the Vision.

I rented a Dyna a year ago when I was in Vegas for a convention and me and a few other guys took a couple of days and rode through Death Valley. The Dyna performed great and a cool time was had by all. The only serious knock I had against it was that the rear cylinder got crazy hot in traffic.

Hey guys stop it, I are one! We are all bikers Harley guys are different from sport bike riders and so on. Why split into factions, all bikers loose if we do that. I agree, Harley guys,at least a good number of them, are a bit
pretentious. Aren't we proud of our VFR's,if not why do so many of the guys have several pictures of their machines in this forum. Bubba, hopefuly this whole thread is a a little tongue in cheek. eddie

I was on the "Ride for Sight" in Alberta a number of years ago. The good thing was that there seemed to be a general "acceptance" between the HD owners and the Japanese bike owners. Where the difference seemed to be was in the way that the HD dirvers wanted to be perceived. When we were driving through downtown Drumheller Alberta, the japanese bike riders were waving to the people who were out on the street to see us, the HD people just revved their engines to make the sound almost intolerable. I'm not here for image, just here for the ride.

It has become more tongue in cheek which is a good thing. Many responses have made me laugh and lighten the mood. Once you begin laughing about a serious subjects like politics, religion, work, squids and Harley owners the mood always lightens. We should never take ourselves so seriously that we can't laugh.

However, my original post was put up out of frustration for the Harley "attitude" I've been flamed with for the past 3 years in Delaware. It might be where I live that's the issue and we have a bumper crop of these tools who seek ME out to hate on for no other reason than I own a bike that does not say Harley.

Someone in this post questioned why I/ we could get so upset with that attitude because they are only words. Easy, when things turn from a good natured ribbing to outright hatered all the time. You'll understand the frustration. The Harley owners in my area "gave me a lethal dose" to quote Bob Dylan and I shove their attitude right back up their a$$es now while I say potato-potato-potato.

In the end, I just have a hard time understanding how an inanimate object can cause some one to act like this. Especially when you remove the Harley from the scenario and they begin acting like a normal human being:blah:

Ok, time to get off the sopabox!

And one more thing, I feel embarrased for you Harley owners on this forum who most likely enjoy your Harley for what it is an not what you think it makes you as a motorcyclist.

I'm gonna poke @ you KC-10 FE (BTW my Dad was one of the major designer/engineers of that aircraft).

I Agree with a the bulk of your posts but for some reason  your comments on this thread I ask questions of why.

I agree the hate is there on the Squids that make it tougher on us do to there actions as well as the Harley & any other manu rider Douchebags that do the same.

But whats whith the beef with the HD bikes themselves

Most HD's are old in design compared to most Manu's but that's due to what People want (easy to work on, car like motor, car like ride, in a M/C 2 wheel format!
The best thing that works for any Company is giving the consumer what they want.
HD also understands that somewhere they have to advance themselves, & they have done that with Buell & the V-rod.
As I stated B-4 that HD tried to make a awesome sport bike (early 80's) but consumer market testing shot that down, & was a shame since the designs & the testing models (V-4 water cooled power-plants) were waaay ahead for there time.

So your statements kinda don't fly with what the Manu is doing.
The Buells even with the under rated air cooled motors have ground breaking high tech every other part on that bike.
buell then took that to the next level with the 1125, & like I said has far out done himself.
The 1125 will best the VFR, out handling, out braking, more HP, & be as or more comfortable to ride than the VFR & even my beloved Triumph ST.
And doing that in a twin power-plant.
I can see a version of this bike running AMA SBK & WSBK in the near future as well.

The V-rod comes in multiple configurations, but compared to the Honda, Yamaha, Kawi, Suzuki, cruisers is a faster, just as comfortable bike, not to mention theres a version that is the fastest 1/4 mile production bike made.

So do you grudge with the Manu, or do you disagree with there progress & communication & wants of there consumers.

I'm a die hard Honda fan, but even I can see the goods, bads & even better thans, by other manu's & your watch comment applies here

I cannot think of any 'bike' that I hate. I tend to think of 'us' versus the cagers, and I do have more respect for most riders on Harleys than most cagers. Harleys have never been for me, this is why I own a Viffer, and a Ducati before it. As many a-holes there are on Harleys, there are just as many irresponsible wreckless jerks on sportbikes. As far as racing, Harleys will never be in MotoGP which I am a big fan of, they do have a racing presence in drag racing. So come on guys, they are bikes, so lighten up.
