I thought "Turbo Visors" were long defunct! My step-brother brought me one back from England when I was a kid. It straps around your helmet and has little vanes that the wind hits and causes the visor to spin. Supposed to throw the rain off. Believe it or not it's still being made! Check this out: http://www.sparcousa.com/pkarting_acc.asp?id=127 Pros: o Great when you hit a flock of bugs. o Other than that I can't think of a single one. Cons: o Head tries to take off like a helicopter if you turn it (1964 vintage helmet now crossing the orbit of Jupiter!) o Can be used to cut (Actually "Saw") your own throat at speed. o Forgetting it's there after a fast ride and reaching up to take off your helmet can be "Interesting" (the old ones had ball bearings on the stem and would spin for a LONG time once you got them wound up good!) o Rain-X is cheaper and safer.
Yeah, you are right. I only used it a few times and it was about 40 years ago. I do remember that it had an elastic band that went around my helmet, and it wasn't enough. I also remember that after running 50 mph or so the thing was spinning at about a million rpm and tended to wobble some and I was always worried about it coming off and going straight down Admittedly no rain would stay on it, it did that quite well. But turning my head was not fun since it acted like a big gyroscope. It looks like the new ones have a lot fewer vanes on them, at least from what I remember, so they may spin a lot slower.
