What does a moderator do, and how do we know if we've been moderated? Sorry for the rookie question; it happens when one is a rookie...

 

Moderators tell you when to stop drinking...

that "oh crap, I almost burp-puked" feeling you get after too many beers.... that is from a moderator.

no, really, they help remove offensive stuff (like what I do but worse ;-) encourage good behavior and add a unique flava to the discussions. They also seem to do a great job of reading most all the posts, and even wish folks happy birthday and such sometimes.

Think of them as the hall monitors of the forum, only you can't see their orange safety belt.
