okay here is my situation...vfr700 f2....91 cbr f2 forks, i found that i can upgrade to 310mm floating rotor with EBC kit. i assume this will give me much more stopping power. my dilemma, i am trying to find some good calipers that will fit the new 310 mm rotors and still have the same bolt pattern as the current CBR f2.

It may be easier, and cheaper, to just make new caliper brackets.

Find the calipers you want to run, and as GenLightening stated have a set of brackets fabricated.

I'm curious about that myself. I measured my calipers. Center to center, they're none of the above; they measured... bleh, 80 something, I don't remember. Edge to edge, however, the holes measured 89 and a hair, which is close enough to 90 IMO for government work. The original VFR calipers measure the same... unsurprising, they're the same units with different bracketry on one side to accomodate the anti-dive... but my mind doesn't like the edge to edge spec. It doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. I measured my Fazer to see some what happened there. Her non radial calipers measured 100 center to center and 108 edge to edge, the latter number lining up well with the typical Jap bolt spacing on radial calipers, which led me to my ZX-6R, which actually has radial calipers. The radial bolts are 108mm... center to center. Long story short, I didn't find out much. Anyway, if I were you (and I soon will be, brakes are the next thing on my agenda) I would order the 90mm jobs. This entire thing might be entirely moot, though. If you or I either one need brackets, they will have to be made, and in making the brackets the bolt spacing of the caliper becomes irrelevant; the brackets can be spec'd to match any caliper combo, including the Euro 65mm span Brembos. I had no plans to change to a larger diameter disc, though, so I may be able to bolt to the forks where you may not. This is all speculation until I actually buy calipers, which I can't afford right now. I would appreciate it if you let me know how things go once you order your calipers, though, especially if you order the 90mm bolt span Nissins.

well i spoke with a tech and he advised that neither the nissin 6 piston or brembo 4 piston would fit the fit set up. he was very helpful he was the owner of sportsbikesolutions, and said neither of the 2 would fit...now i am not sure if he meant a direct bolt up or what...but i am not going to waste anymore time...so i just decided to run stock caliper for F2, 310mm rotor and new pads. and new MC....and just hope that gets me close to stop on a dime braking.

What about 4 piston Nissins? There's a source online for those out of Hawaii for $420 a pair, IIRC. Regardless, I don't intend to give up, I refuse to tolerate 2 hole sliding calipers.

Here is a picture of the front end off of my 1976 XS650. I by no means have stock brakes, the rotors are the stock dimension, however the calipers are grimeca's. As you can see by the pic all I had to do was fab new mounting brackets.

I have an 86 VFR and paln to do a front caliper upgrade on mine this summer. Nissan calipers as well.

:blah: Never let anyone tell you it can't be done, until you exhaust all you options first.....

Those would be what I'd use. Who's got the calipers in HI? May be a racing buddy of mine.
