WHY did I just watch that?!? (damned morbid curiousity!). I'm glad I didn't see this before I went on today's ride.... That's a serious reminder to all of us how potentially dangerous it is out there.

OMFG!!! That is just NASTY! Morbidly compelling , but f*****g NASTY nonetheless. The only saving grace is that it would have been over in a second for the poor bastard on the bike.

On a side note, did you notice that no one stopped...? Maybe this kind of thing happens so frequently there that drivers are used to it..???

HOLY F#@K Dude! why did I watch that. Reminds me of faces of death...

Ugh. Please no more like that. I don't know that I could handle it. I get them with a little less gore by the time the get to the ICU. I think that one went straight to the morgue.

+1 As brutal as that was, I never mind seeing those kind of video's and try to put myself in the motorcyclist victims situation to see if it could have been avoided, you would be surprised the percentage of accidents that could be averted if your guards up ...

Man, that is awful. Did you see how much heart that other racer had to try to help him? As expected, he was upset, but VERY VERY upset. Looks like a close friend. He was calling for help trying to push that car back over himself. What a hero for his efforts.

I had to at least see the setup, I stopped it before the gore. I agree this truck driver was criminally negligent. Regardless of how slow the rider was going the driver should have maintained a safe distance. Hopefully he is prosecuted.

Finally got this to work (wife's Mac was to blame...).

Not much turns my stomach in terms of gore, but this is GNARLY.

Truck driver is 100% at fault here. Needs to be run over/skidded on himself.

This, does, hoowever, look like China, and the driving there is atrocious at best. Stuff like this happens every day, and chances are, the truck driver is still out there, driving the same route every day.

Yes, it was heart-wrenching watching Purley try to help while others just stood by watching. Purley would die 12 years later in a plane crash. Here's some details:

For the first video, I can't believe someone said "a rider possibly dead"? I don't think there is any doubt about it. The truck driver was at fault but the rider could have helped by being more aggressive at getting the proper interval.
The racing video was bad. I can't believe that noone else was trying to help and how long it took to get the safety crew there. The other driver was the kind of guy I want around to help me.
Pedrosa got hurt and had surgery. Nicky left Sapang with the fast lap! Good to see the Honda going a little bit faster than the Ducati at least for now.

ok, I hate watching vids of people getting hurt. I even hate those ones on fox and so on "Crashes!!!" or "Worst _____ Everrrrr". I just dont like it. I have been hurt a lot, broken spine, ribs, collapsed lungs, broken legs ankles wrists hand collarbone, cracked skull, and more strains and tendon rips and dislocations that I want to mention, I just know how much stuff hurts and hate to see it happen to others.

As far as that first bike video goes, my god. That guy was dead before he knew what was happening. Just terrible. Too many people think they are invincible, they should watch this movie. We are just squishy sacks of bones.

The second video is worse though in my opinion. Where were the other people helping? Where were the safety crews? Was this before radios were invented? Why is the race not STOPPED. I applaud that racer that helped, may we all be so fortunate to have people like that around when it matters.

Did you read the comments further down in that page? Apparently they LEFT THE CAR on the side of the track with a blanket over it and the dead guy and FINISHED the race!! That is just crap. No class at all. A man lost his life and they kept rockin? No race is worth disrespecting someone who has paid the ultimate price for their passion.

I was appalled that the other race cars continued to whiz by at full speed while one of their fellow drivers was being burned alive. The best that the stewards could do? Wave a yellow flag and wander around aimlessly with their thumbs up their asses.

This is certainly a scene from 1973, no doubt. Would not happen in today's motorsports world.

Very sobering. Grisly. But, I feel we can learn alot from this kind of thing (despite the horrendous nature and difficulty of watching). If it saves one of us then that fellow's death is (only slightly) less of a waste. Always be aware...I for one will be watching how I slow down and what is coming up from behind.

And Moderator...thanks for the warning. It was my choice to watch or not. I do prefer DerStuka's usual video but life is more than bikinis...it is death too. In between the start and the end of life are thousands of everyday choices that affect all of us...please be concious out there kids...

This is a classic example of why I HATE people following too close. This is the sort of reason I go out of my way to make sure I have space behind me. Unpleasant but a good reminder never the less.

Grinder...I am right with you about people tailgating...everyone is afraid that someone else will get in front so they tailgate to avoid that. So HOW do you go about keeping people from riding up your, um, tailpipe? Whether in my cage or on the bike people do it. When I leave enough space in front of me (bike or cage) people DO jump right in...so now I have people right in front AND right behind me. I feel like a sandwich filling! How do you convince them to back off?

A pocket full of ball bearings always does the trick! Let a handful fly over your shoulder and PRESTO! no more tailgater!*

For the first couple of years I rode, the only wrecks I got into were the ones in which I wiped myself out. I got rid of my blackbird and moved into some slower bikes, which all got hit by those f@#$ing car drivers (seriously, not my fault). When people ask me "Why do motorcyclists go so fast?" I tell them because a fast moving target is harder to hit.
