I can't figure out why the truck ran over him - the bike was in front for a while - how'n hell did he not see him?

 

I think the truck driver simply mis-timed the movement of the bike. The bike started across to the other lane, and most likely slowed a bit for the upcoming corner. Biker should have not slowed until they were in the proper lane. Truck was a way too close on the following as well.

Looks like the truck was going to pass him at first due to the bike being far right in his lane. That put him in a even more difficult position to avoid the snail like lane change of the bike. If the truck driver was alert I would have expected a multi wheel lockup at least before the hit. Timing anything on the streets is risky. You just never know what anyone else is going to do.

I think lane dominance on the bikes part would have prevented it.

That truck driver is an asshole. He was coming down the road a bit faster then everyone else too.

Well, its also a reminder to us to check your mirrors frequently!!!

From what I see, at the worst it was intentional, at the least it was a driver who was using perhaps a smidgen of care. ASSHOLE is right - he should do time.
