recently drilled holes like the CBR has on the ankle protector, powdercoat the rearsets along with the shifter and foot brake lever and had the chainguard from Thurn powdercoated also. I like black parts!

looks good. but if anyone else is considering doing this use a counter sink drill bit to get a nice finish of the holes.

Oh man, comin' out swingin' on your first post, LOL! Maybe if you countersink those holes on a drill press that's set for depth, the contrast of the black to the original silver might look kinda' neat..........Of course, what the hell do I know, it's your bike not mine. The black looks good.

duh, if i wanted to countersink i would have. if you had read the original post, i said i wanted the look of the CBR1000. drilled straight matches what honda does and also matches the holes in rotors. i, like most people, post on forums to show others ideas, ask questions. your type of post is meaningless and has no value.

I think he was just expressing an opinion and not trying to insult your work (which looks nice by the way). I'd hardly say his/her post has no value as it gave you another chance to elaborate on your original intent. Seeing as it was a first post maybe they are someone new to forums in general and didn't consider implied tone in a typed message. Of course, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

Could you post a photo of the whole bike? I would like to see how the rearsets look. I've kicked around the idea of doing my frame in black but don't know if I really want to tackle that big of a job. Your mods look great.

time to apologize to all who have either posted on this thread or have even just looked. i overreacted and said some unkind things. i will attribute it to having a bad day, because i normally don't get this excited about comments made on forums. i believe it was just a remark about trying something else and not intended as criticism. so the "duh" is on me.

i will post a pic of the whole bike this weekend, but the steps and the chainguard are the only things coated. it would be cool to do the frame.

    Hey F'er,

I can fully understand where you're comin' from. Nobody likes to post up and then get flamed, even if just slightly singed. Hell, I'm guilty of it too! Later I'll read my posts again and have to edit them because I feel like crap for what I wrote. There seems to have been quite a few cases lately of people just sayin things in way that could be misinterpreted. It's winter and we're all kinda' caged up in here lookin' for some space. I hope that you post up some pictures of your bike so we can all take a look, I'm sure it's pretty nice and I do really like the black.

I agree, Norcal has been a grumpy old whore lately....he even promised to buy me flowers, but I am not gonna hold my breath....he never calls or writes....he is a user and abuser! :caked:

BTW, nice powder coat. I have the same thurn chainguard and I had it powdercoated gloss black last year.

Oh fine, I see how you are Superstuka:gossip: Fine, I can take a hint:pout:

Now see, we do share some of the same ideas between Gens:grouphug: - the Thurn chainguard looks way better PC'd black than that cheesy lookin' aluminum color it comes in. (Oh S$%T, I probably just did it again to somebody, didn't I?)

Hey Stuke, you put that bong away already?

I might still have a little residue left for a few hits....I figured you being so close to 420 that you would have the "good stuff" up there!

BTW, I hated the aluminum color that the guard came in as well. i think it made the left side of my bike look 10 times cleaner/better, once I painted it and replaced the stock one.

Hiya folks, I think drilling holes in that ankle guard is a terrific idea! I am going to do that this spring for sure. Thats what this joint is all about, getting ideas for mods and watching Norcal and Stuka kick eachother in the shins. Priceless!!!
Enjoy your friday fellahs, I spent an hour yesterday wiping down the bike, prepping the front end for some 3M plastic protectors, and wishing I could ride it. I started it up and it sounded pretty rough for a bit, even with the fuel staiblizer maybe the gas is crap.
    Thanks for the idea F'er!!
