If Honda would provide a fix for that damn speedometer (without screwing up the odometer), I'd be happier. Other than that, and the touchey throttle, I love mine!

 the shock of it all, keep up the whining LOL. I know there's more to what bugs ya.
Even thou mine isn't a 6th gen, I'll chime in, what bugs me is whats the deal on the lug nuts holding on the rear rim? I've never figured why they went that route when all the other bikes including their own RC30-45 with a SSSA have a Jesus nut. Go Figure.

I sense some  ... I see right through your little plan there R. Your trying to get the 6th Gen movement to turn on their machines...

Deliberately trying to get people to face the fact that their bikes aren't perfect... well ya know, there not. You said it yourself, no bike is. Except mine.

Unless of course you want info cause you wanna BUY ONE!?   That... Must... Be... It. I knew it

Nothin's broke, the speedo just reads a little fast, that's all.
I'd have to agree...is RVFR thinking of a new purchase? Maybe a 6 gen? Believe it or not...they are great bikes.
    Carry on, SSG EVT

Here's one - I hate the fairing fasteners! Almost any other type of fastener would be an improvement.

Ooo Hmmm well now... How else does one get to know what the hang ups are. Really thought other 2-5 gen owners would benefit by knowing as then they'd know what they have ain't so bad ;)

Well I am a 6th Gen rider and I would inprove the following:

accurate Speedometer-reads 5 mph fast at 45 mph
ergo's are great but I needed Helibars and a corbin seat to make ideal
touchy throttle in 1st gear. they could smooth this out.
    a brighter headlight
get rid of the rear fender it hideous
put a tank pad on the tank stock
make a 1000 cc version for big fella's

I like the exhaust sound, dont want a screamer the engine noise in wonderful too.

ship the bike with the rear seat cowl stock.

    OK here goes.

    Things I didn't like and changed;
    Helibars
    Taller Screen
    Sargent Seat
    Added Hard Saddlebags

    Things I don't like and will probably change;
Front suspension - soft will probably go to progressive springs

Rear suspension - soft would like to upgrade but too expensive

    Things I really like;

Its a VFR - it does most thinks really well
    Love the VTEC
    Ditto linked Brakes
Ditto ABS - would never be without it again
It doesn't have the gear whine of the 5th - that annoyed me (I know I know you 5th types love it)

    Something that really bugs me

Speedo inaccuracy - 10% high is ridiculous. I know Honda does it deliberately to make it seem faster than it is but really the real speed is a hell of a lot more useful.

I don't like the plastic push clips. Maybe others don't mind them, but I do.

The only issues I've had are:
    1. The stock seat was terrible, changed to a corbin.
    2. The bars are a little low for me, probably add heli's when money allows.
    3. Less VTEC. Sorry fellow 6 Gr's but I'm just not a big fan of it. Mine seems inconsistant when it comes to how "hard" it hits when rpm's reach 6400.
    4. CHEAPER HARDBAGS! $1000 is just too crazy for me. Add that to the price of the bike and it's getting near a new Kaw Concours or FJR 1300 which are selling for around 11500-12000 locally fully loaded with bags.

You're right the exhaust note is cool. I rode a buddy's 6th gen. before I bought my '04 and noticed how quiet it was compared to my 5th gen. When I had the opportunity to buy another VFR (not because I needed another) I bought my '04. I think my '99 sounds way better with the gear whine and TBR full system. I enjoy riding either of the VFR's I own but then again I like my Super Hawks and my Hawk GT in certain situations as well.

Grinder, I'd recommend going with a straight rate spring, it's very difficult to valve a progressive rate spring properly. Most important thing is to find a straight rate spring appropriate for your weight. All the suspension tuners I know of use straight rate springs. Just my 2ยข.

I have edited this post because I have been accused of not playing well with others by Derstuka.

    as for me,

I had an 84 Shadow 700 for almost 10 years before picking up this vfr,
    it's hard to have complaints

I like the weight, I like doing long rides, the weight helps with stability ;)
(in fact, I'm thinking of trading in for a Concourse 14)

I can't say there's anything I "dislike" about the bike.
if I didn't like it, I would have gotten something else ;)

I do wish there was more aftermarket support (as well as wish parts weren't sooo expensive)

I wish it had the sound of the Gear driven cams

    so far,
    what I've changed: (in order)
    windshield
    Sargent Seat
added saddle bags and tank bag
    Power Commander
    Staintune Exhaust

    about to order some Heli-Bars
and already have some buel footpegs

Well comming from a Honda Shadow Spirit 750 to my '07 RWB VFR I had some significant riding adjustments to overcome. Since my first test ride of my VFR I loved it, now after several months and a couple thousand miles I have my own personal ideas as to what I believe could be improved or changed.

First off, it seems and I have read that the VFR is "supposed" to be Honda's bike to showcase their engineering and technology capabilities. The VTECH is cool and once used to it does not have much effect on riding the bike, but it really does not seem like a necessary technology for this bike, it does not really make the bike any more powerful nor does it make the bike that much more fuel efficient it at all.

    This I would change:

    • Bars - a bit higher for better touring ergos (I added Heli's)
    • Grips - Add heated grips or make a reasonably priced Honda accessory to add it
    • Windscreen - Needs to be a bit higher (I went with a ZG SportTour screen)
    • Price - Bike seems a bit overpriced new, if you get ABS, Hard Bags, RWB you at a price point with the ST1300
    • Engine Management - Idle / Low RPM is a bit touchy (adding a PCIII fixes this but it should be fixed from factory)
    • Shifting - Very clunky shifting (I added a Factory Pro EVO kit - smooth as butter now)
    • 2 Up Seating - As a designated Sport Tourer, there should be a better Honda Option for a rear backrest (The OE Top Box has a backrest, if you want to spens another $600+)

All things considered this IS a very nice bike off the showroom floor, you really only need to modify things to fit personal preferences not necessarily flaws. This bike is not my primary transportation, but I do ride it as much as I can for commuting and pleasure and 1 thing I like about anything I own is the ability to personalize it (I have Jeeps also and you can pretty much build a Jeep from a catalogue and pile of parts), so better aftermarket support of the whole VFR line would be a nice thing as well.

I think that Mr Jason, Norcal, and Stewart need to take a long pull on the bong and just relax just a tad. You guys seemed stressed. I think a nice long ride (before the bong hit) is in order to ease up the cabin fever! We are all friends here....hell, almost every thread goes off on another tangent. If we followed every policy almost every thread would have to be deleted. Big dealio if he said owners, if somebody has ridden one, or had experience with one, they can put their input. This is a free forum! Power to the people! Waaaaaaaaahaha! :blah:
