I have had a few folks inquire as to what the PAIR Block off plates are that I have listed as a working on mod in my signature, so I thought I would post a photo of them (I just got them in the mail today). These pieces are machined by a VFRD Forum Member who guys by the handle of Toro1. They come with what you see in the photo as well as a nice set of installation instructions with the all important pictures to help you along. He sells them for $45.00 shipped in the U.S. They are very nice pieces and are even stamped with a serial number on the back.

I hate to inform you, but pair block off is a worthless mod. You are dissabling the air injection which does not work accept duing deceleration. People falsely believe that the injected air effects the O2 sensors, but it does not. The O2's are not active on decel just during acceleration.

Now if you want to improve drivability install O2 eliminators. When you install the elims it fakes the ECM out into thinking that the O2 is still connected but not seeing anything other than stoemeteric conditions. What this does is not allow the ECM to go into closed loop operation and the ECM will not try to lean things out when it sees a slight rich condition. Remember the O2 and ECM, when motor is at operating temp, will try to maintain stoemteric conditions for the sake of emissions. This is why you get slight stumbles and dips in power at certain loads when riding. Don't think of it as leaning or richening but dissabling the emissions programing.

Thank you for stating what you think the reason is that I am using these, I'm doing it to jettison a little more weight. This is being done in conjunction with a Motad collector, Evap Cannister removal as well as complete removal of the PAIR system, airbox flapper, the snorkel and then a dyno tune by Kyle Racing Engines. We'll see what the benefit is........I still believe that the VFR has appeal, if only to me. If you read my sig you will see that I'm already ahead of you with the O2 sensors.

Did not mean to offend, I did read your sig. Just thought I would share some knowledge with those that do not know. There is such a huge misconception of what the pair valves do.

I can appreciate you trying to shed some weight, good luck on this bike.

Ooo, I just noticed who is going to tune your bike, have them build you up a motor. Can't cost anymore than say $8-$10K. If anyone can get the most out of your setup they can.

I'm leaning more towards suspension next, then factory hard bags. After I spend that $3,000.00 I might start saving for a little head work.......

That is of course the unless the reed gums open... I had one reed gum open in '05 negatively affecting both Power and fuel economy badly. ( 140miles before flash )

After springing for a full service of new airfilter, plugs, oil, SV balance with no change in bad economy found a thread titled " VFR800Fi1 Increase in Fuel Consumption and Loss of Power " on the UK VFR site which fixed my problem.

True dissasembly, clean and re-assembly as per instructions returned power and economy to a normal 190miles before flash but have since performed the mod so wont have to worry it happening again.

seems over on vfrd a popular mod is flapper valve removal or disable is it a worthwhile mode?(certainly an easy one)is the removal to get better air flow? when dose the valve close or open?
OKCVFR would be interested in your opinion or any one Else's
    Thanks, Jeff

Hey Jeff, I am a bit new to these V4's, so I'm not positive of the function of the flapper valve. I believe I read that it is associated with the air box and is a direct function of the Vtech system. I would imagine if removing it is to increase air volume when Vtech is activated.
