Would we as americans, like to see the Interceptor with the V5 powerplant? I say yes. Time to move forward to a bigger and better future. Also, any comments on the concept bikes in the last issue of Redrider. I'm mostly talkind about the air - cooled 4 cyls., with dual rear shocks. The RWB racer is pretty sweet. Time to go into production with that. Nice article about the VFR too.

I'd like to see the V5 on the track before it goes in a future interceptor. The last three generations have been so refined, I'd rather see the motor's longevity prior to getting it on a machine I use for a long commute and rack the miles on. but that's just me.

If the VFR is Honda's technology platform, then it'd make sense... wonder how she'd sound?

I would love to see a V5 with gear driven cams and VTEC and the current 800cc displacement. For me, that would really generate some interest.

Ever hear of MotoGP? The 1000cc bikes were V5's essentially RC45 engines with a 3rd cylinder added in the middle rear. The current V4's are back to
800's. You know at this point I would just be happy if Honda unlocked the potential of the V4 800. Just look at the GSXR750 power output/curve. There's no reason that the VFR800 engine couldnt match or beat it.

Yeah mello, I've heard of MotoGP (or were you attempting rhetorical sarcasm?).... work with KC to add more of a raw edge next time... good try though ), but was too slow on cable upgrade/tivo to have a recording.

I would guess it would be the aftermarket folks who'd up the output vice Honda on the bikes we have.... Honda seems to shrink from the HP wars Suzuki, Kawasaki, and others excel in.

That engine kit used to be sold by Dynamo Humm in Canada. They are out of biz now. I forget the exact name but something like T.S. Performance in England supplies the same kit for 821cc. To get it all done the block needs to get rebored and plated by Milenium Performance in Wisconson. Then the usuall "while I got the heads off" add in some port and polish and a tick bigger valves. When I was digging into it - I figured the total bill would run ~$4500.
Yeah - ouch. So I may crack the heads someday, but the big bore is out. Its too much a major bill for adding 50cc to stock (781).

I think Honda should use a V4 not V5 in the new VFR...After so many years using it I think it would be a mistake adding another cylinder. Although it could have more cc's and more horsepower.

    Another plug
    Four more valves to adjust
    Another coil
Geeeez guys, when will it end?

Let's keep it simple. How about a thumper? Simpler is better right? I guess it'd be an IOR (in-line one R) instead of VFR.

    Out on a limb......
I'm taking a guess that Marley Davidson's vote is for a V4. Must have got hungry for lunch before casting his 5th vote.

So now we have 5,4,2, and 1. Anybody say three? Surely if Triumph makes it work across a host of models, Honda could too.

Just thinking out loud, isn't that what the super chicken (VTR) pretty much is?

I'm all about getting some kind of an updated VFR full of trick items (V5) be easy enough to do would be to bring in an NR with a 5th gen 800+cc then there'd be something I'd want, next question is, could I afford it ? all things good come at a price, ala 1098 or that V4 Duc?

I want 150 hp 75 fp of torque in a bike I can ride all day. And it should weigh less than 500 pounds wet. I ride the the VFR everyday and I just like the seating position and the feel.On the 1000 rr or the rc51 the pegs are to high for my busted up knees to fold up on after two hours in the saddle. I still want one but not for every day. I guess a v5 would be OK but what is the bikes purpose? Race track toy or cross country rocket like the 1400 Kwasaki concorse.I like small bikes so if the v5 makes the VFR like a st1300 then ,NO but shoe horning a v5 into the current frame would be nice.:juggle:

As the former owner of two SuperHawks, I consider that term a slur. Why do you use it? Just wondering.
