The Magnum I bought has the versatility I need living in southern Arizona. They are willing to exchange it now, so instead of spending more money, I will do that .

Zona - I'm guessing you know this, but since I've not posted yet this year, I'll make this my community service announcement

it is not uncommon for businesses to drastically reduce the workforce between 24 Dec and 2 Jan as folks take off for vacation.- and hence not be as responsive to repeated e-mails as usual.

I'm glad to hear they are taking care of you at Cortech.

    peace -

I started sending them emails in early November man. When I get the new jacket back , I'm going to try and sell it on Craigslist and buy something else - hopefully from a dealer in town so I can try it on, sit on a bike, etc.

    Hey Zona,

I would be weary of some of those Cortech/Tourmaster jackets....well the zippers at least. My buddy had a zipper blow out on him after wearing it 3 times. The dealer was cool though, and worked with Cortech to get him a new one in about 2 days. The Cortech customer service was very good as well. The zippers just to not seem to be up to par though.

StukaGlo: Are you saying they have zippy service as in quick or zippy service as in none?

ZonaMan: You got zippy service for months.

It's hard to find a jacket that fits exactly correctly unless you are the exact rider they had in mind when they made the pattern. Different manufacturers are cut differently so you try on a bunch and maybe you get lucky. I bought a AGVSports summer perf jacket that fits well except the sleeves are just a touch short. I am ok with it for summer riding. I finally broke down and ordered a jacket from Bates. They only do custom fits. You send them (or go there) a bunch of measurements and they make you a jacket. It's not cheap but as long as you know someone that can use a tape measure it WILL fit. I have a pair of Bates boots and if the jackets are anywhere near the same quality it will seem like a bargain despite the price. The added benefit is you get any color(s) in any design your heart desires. Pockets, vents, hard or soft armor too. (ala carte, if you add a lot of extras it gets real expensive) I report when mine comes in.

I bought a Bates textile jacket at the AMASBK race at CA MotorSpeedway 2 years ago. When I got it home, I noticed one half of the snap was missing on the left cuff (I didn't notice until then because I tried on a demo out of the packaging). I wrote them an email and ended up sending the Jacket back to Long Beach to get repaired. Three months later I had them credit the price back to my credit card because they couldn't find the right snap to fix it  and did a poor job of keeping me up to date with the progress. They didn't even credit me for the shipping costs to get it back to them. I have all the luck........

In my experience (I am a tall skinny guy) a leather jacket that fits my arms is too big in the chest (like yours). I got an alpinestars jacket that is close, but they do bunch up in the chest a bit. Try putting in a chest protector (some jackets can take em) or a back protector to take up space. You will be glad for a little extra airflow come summertime!!!

The only jacket to fit me perfectly is my Vanson Custom, and unless you hace $850 burning a hole in your pocket, it aint an option.

I got new magnum back from TM a few weeks ago. They finally gave me a return #. Anyway, the first time I wore the new jacket, some of the teeth on the zipper partially broke off. Luckily I can still zip it up and wear it, but selling it is not an option now becsue of that. I sent TM another message that the new one is broken too and haven't heard anything back. I think I am going to stay away from their products from now on. I should have just gotten the zipper replaced instead of wasting the money to send it back to Helmet House.

Do any of you have the Icon Motorhead jacket and what do you think of it? They have them for $250 from Metricbike.com. Thanks
