Of course they are. Look at Givi as an example, you can fit any size luggage to the bike, trick is to get the FITTING KIT to match your model, normally made by the manufacturer of the luggage. Also look for a company called Nonfango, also make a good line in cases. I suggest Google.

    GIVI works great

I am the proud new owner of a 5th gen VFR and installed Givi hard bags two days ago. Love them! I bought them through my local Honda shop and the parts guys there recommended them over any other brand. They are great because most any Givi bag will work on the mount. In my opinion they don't detract from the look either. Rode about 150 miles today on the freeway and felt no adverse drag or wind buffeting. I got the E30N tour trunk; it will easily hold one full face helmet. Also got the E21 bags, which will hold a weekends worth of gear. The included instructions aren't the greatest, but it still only took about an hour to install everything. Check out the Givi website for pictures. Plan on spending about $600 for the whole package. Best of luck with your new purchase. It's a great bike. Regards.

No offense to anyone reading this, but unless you don't care about looks hardbag options absolutely suck for our beloved 5th gen. I went with a Givi topcase, it's great because it also functions as a passenger backrest, and comes on and off in about 2 seconds - I can get used to the bare rack for most rides.

Not to many options with the 5th but here's a picture of my buddies 5th with the full Givi set up.

If you like the soft bags I would recommend Cortech, they are relatively inexpensive with easy on/off and light as a feather...

Personally, I prefer the look of the Corbin Beetle Bags but they are FAR from the cheapest option.

I just purchased soft saddle bags and tail bag from Newenough. Under $175 shipped to my door. I went with the Nelson Riggs CL-950 and CL-150. I chose Nelson Rigg because they offer a lifetime guarantee. With Cortech you can only mount the Sport model tail bag with the Sport saddle bags or the standard saddle bag and matched tail bag together which are larger. I could match any of seven Nelson Rigg tail bags with a pair of their saddle bags. I don't want to use a large tank bag so I went with a larger tail bag. Keep in mind you can't lock soft saddle bags like you can hard bags so they are not secure.

The beetle bags would be a viable option, but not at $1,299 and sure as hell not at $1,699. Used for $600, yeah I'd buy em.

RKA soft luggage and cortech tailbag both made it round trip across the US and back without any problems... The stuff is still like new and I'd feel confident using it on another trip. BTW, speed tested. ;)

I bought Beetle Bags new in 2001 for under $800. I had no idea they had increased in price that much. No way!

I'd rock those on my red, even in yellow!
If it wasn't for my high mount exhaust. The mount was a bear, too much to swap the mid pipe for trips.

I've got the full setup of Givi bags for the 5th Gen. The bags are all black and include The Givi Rack II, 2 45L bags, and 1 52L bag with Brake Light and Back rest. I've also attached a bonus to the rack... on the 5th gen the rack blocks the helmet lock, I've added a helmet lock to the rear of the rack.

Drop me a line if you're interested. I'm looking for $700 for the whole setup.

I have a full set of Givi hard bags, an older style E50 Trunk, and two E360 side cases (Givi calls them cases) for my 5th gen which mount via a WingRack 2. With the complete set, it looks identical to R.W. buddy's set-up.

Here's a shot of the Wingrack 2 with no bags attached. Not the prettiest rack, but it does provide a very solid and stable mounting platform; the entire set came with the bike, so who am I to complain? I usually ride with my top case as I use it for commuting with the laptop and briefcase, but I just ordered a set of Givi E21's like Derstuka's today. I will use those for the laptop and briefcase when I get them so I can carry the weight down a bit lower.

great looking bike, it appears that you are able to have a high mount pipe with that setup, did you have to do anything special for that or do the bags come with a note that they will or will not work with a high mount exit exhaust

    Thanks
