Has anyone tried putting frame sliders on a '06 vfr yet? If so, what kind did you use, and what did you have to do to get them on?

    Thanks,
    -Jon

Is the body on the '06 VFR different from the body on the '05? I found one company that has frame sliders for the '05 listed that I can order to my local shop. The above link looks great, but I am in the USA, so getting those would be super expensive.

These frame sliders will fit 02-06 VFR's.
R&G sliders are expensive but include a modified coolant bottle but need to make a hole on the fairings. US supplier, AF1racing.com can order for about $220.

If you go with the Motovation sliders (about $70 including delivery) part # FSH12, you will have to cut a hole in the coolant bottle and fairings.
I just ordered a set of these sliders yesterday and a coolant bottle ($30) from Honda just incase I @$&% up. If you go this route you save $120 + as long as you don't mess up on the holes.

HPS makes sliders that fit in front of the radiators with steel brackets which don't require fairing mod's - don't know if the bike drops if it will damaged the rad.

Eeeeks!!! those HPS ones would scare me because i think you are right. If you took a spill those brackets would get pushed RIGHT into the radiators and cause even more damage :(

In regards to the R&G sliders, i really do like those because it does come with the modified coolant bottle. And me not being all that mechanically inclined to begin with would make it easier.

Either way with R&G and HPS, you have to cut the fairings but yea, I like the savings the HPS sliders offer. Im just chicken to cut my coolant bottle up and even more afraid to cut my fairings.

I finally got to install my sliders during the weekend with no mishaps.
I must admit I was a bit nervous to drill a hole through the coolant bottle and fairings but it all work out.
I've attached some pic's of the install.

Kanf, if you were in N.Y. I would be glad to give a hand.
I would offer you to ship the fairings and the coolant bottle but don't want the responsibility incase the fairings don't line up right because it's not fitted on your bike.

    My new Frame sliders!

Just got new frame sliders. I didn't have to cut any plastics or modify anything. Just bolt on. If anyone is looking for these let me know I will put you in touch with the guy I bought them from. They do come from belgium, so be prepared to wait a week or two for them. I included a picture of the sliders installed on my bike. The installation is easy and anyone that know how to use a socket set can install these.

How thick is that bracket the slider is attached to? I'd be worried about the whole works poking through the radiators.

The air flow looks as though is has been cut by close to 20%. Have you had a good ride? How were the temps.

The brackets are very strong! They are about 1/4" thick. I am confident that they would hold the bike up when I go down.

The radiator still gets enough air to keep the engine cool. I went on a 300 mile ride, pushing it in the canyons, in 80 deg. temps. The bike was running around 180. If I was sitting there with it running. The temp went to 210. This is the same as it ran before I put the frame sliders on.

    @ 06 interceptor

Can you please measure the slider-length
    -diameter
    -bolt length(aprox.)
-inner diameter(where the bolt is and length)

I need these info to manufacture it by myself.
Hope it´s not too much to ask.

    Frame Sliders

How strong are the? They look like they would just fold into the radiator if you lay it down without another bracket to give more than one side of attachment. The ones I have were $145, I am trying to compare and see if the ones I have are comparable. Mine have a bracket that has a connection to the frame, or motor mount in three different places.

These go thru two engine bolts including the strong hanger bolt in the front, see http://www.promotomelb.com/pdfs/OK548-549.pdf.
The extension over the radiator is short and very reinforced. For my purposes, preventing damage in case of a tip over, it seems like it work work-my opinion.

Not sure if he is still making them but check out the frame sliders available from Radar on vfrdiscussion.com ..
They mount to the front engine/cradle bolt I think He also offers a sure proof way to mark the fairings for drilling the hole. Very esy install it seems. I just dont have the cash right now to go that route.
