my 2001 vfr has about 14,000 miles. when the bike is sitting at idle, after warm up; it surges from about 1200 rpm to 2000 rpm. lately when riding, i will be accelerating and it will 'jump' about 800-1000 rpm and then back down again. is this an injector issue. i have not taken it in for the 16,000 mile valve adjustment and it is on the verge on needing a new chain and sprockets. i don't think this is the problem. anyone ever had this happen with their bikes. i am in a bit of a quandry as to what this problem is and how to fix it. thanks.

it might be a vacuum leak, look for a cracked or disconnected hose.
check the plugs, see if its running lean

    Hows your temp?

I have the same problems with idle and while riding. My t-stat was stuck open and I'm in the process of replacing it.

I hope this fixes it. I keep hearing the vfr is real picky on its temp.

I have put my bike away for the winter. I live in Canada, what can I say. What the heck is a t-stat?
