    Hi all,

Late this summer I bought a '99 that came with a PC2 and Staintune highmount. Not sure if it has a K&N or not. I've only gotten to put 500 miles on it before winterizing and storage, but I do have a question:

How much difference is there between PC2 and PC3 on a given bike? It seems to me that the PC3 strategy would be better (tricking the ECU outputs rather than the inputs) than the PC2 strategy in terms of throttle response, fuel economy, smoothness, power, etc.

Has anyone tried both on one bike? Is it worth the upgrade? I saw that I can get a PC3 USB here for $255 with free shipping, and I think I could at least get $100 for my PC2 on the 'bay. Does anyone think it's worth the upgrade? This may be a case of cabin fever and wanting to meddle with the bike while it just sits there doing NOTHING!!!!

Have you tried the bike without the PC? Mine runs fine without a PC. You aren't going to get a whole lot more power when you break the EFI feedback loop because the system will no longer be able to adjust as well for environmental variations, etc.

BTW - I know all about the PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome), being from the snowy north country myself.

Yes, I do want to try the bike without the PC enabled. I also want to download whatever map is on it to keep another copy safe (not that it's anything special).

Also, if this has been covered before, please point me to it! I did a search and found nothing comparing the PC2 & PC3, except for the strategy differences I noted above.

Before winter is over I'm gonna have knobbies on the VFR.

I have wondered the same thing myself. I ride a 98 with pc2 and I rode on RWs 99 with a pc3. If there is a difference, it is very very mild. The real noticeable diff between our bikes was in his upgraded suspension which I ordered a copy of just after our north CA trip.
Oh, and don't count on much $$ on fleabay for the old one. I bought mine for $50 there and I was the first and only bidder.

Thanks for the reality check, reg! I saw a PC2 on ebay.uk that went for ~100 pounds, so ~$200. Crazy!
