We are talking about a 500 Interceptor, right?

    It is mild steel.

    The 1986 VFR had aluminum.

Alrighty. So I tried using a sacrificial fork leg clamped into the lower leg to try and bend the clamp. Doesn't budge, and the triple is kind of a pain to get into a good position to give it some leverage without it trying to rock one way or the other.

I am also just having the bike on the center stand and a head lift stand, so it isn't really strapped down enough to give it the force I really need to give it to make this clamp bend back.

I feel like...in my situation, I really need to remove the triple tree, bend the lower back to parallel, and reinstall.

And probably should just go ahead and do the bearings while I'm there right?

Then see how well the forks line up before I send them off the the Captain.

That is exactly when I would do (tapered) bearings.
